During our 90-minute encounter, he was able to purchase my vehicle, sell my new vehicle, and locate information regarding a prior 10-month purchase involving an extended warranty, which I submitted to a local dealership for reimbursement because I sold the vehicle to Carmax. Everything was done with such ease; the staff at the site were extremely friendly, and the ability to view vehicles in the lot and select one to test-drive for 30 minutes without a salesperson spoke volumes!! With few exceptions, my Chevy truck is fine, but the process of buying my truck was less than enjoyable. Upon presenting the ceritified check, I was told I had to show the account from which the check had been paid. I told the sales person that wasn't an option, that I had no problem with Carmax contacting my bank and verifying the check. A finance person, a young woman, joined and explained - in so many words - that I had to show her my account to verify the check. I repeated what I had said to the sales person, you can call my bank and verify the check, that it not my job to verify the check. After leaving the desk, she returned after a short while and said she couldn't contact my bank. I told I was not showing her or anyone at Carmax my account for the following reasons: 1. I was never informed that I would have to show any of my bank accounts to verify the check. That the only items I was told I would need to present were proof of insurance and my driver's license. 2. It wasn't my job to verify the check, it was theirs. 3. I was ready to leave and not complete the transaction She left the desk again, presumably to try and call the bank again. After she left for the second time, I dialed my bank and got somebody to answer after several rings. After sitting my myself for several more mintues, I made my way to the front desk area and again explained that I was ready to walk away from the deal. I was then told that Carmax was going to make an exception and go ahead with the deal. After that things went smoothly. I have already contacted your Customer Relations department and there is a case that has been opened. More
