First, I test drove the vehicle I was expecting to buy for 2 hours and found the harried salesman when returned telling me that the test drive is usually limited to 30 minutes. He never called the police on me and was gracious as could be about the whole thing. Second, the pictures from which I checked the car online showed all weather floor mats and I mentioned that I was disappointed to see that they weren't there when checking the car. He said right away that they would either find them or replace them with new ones--which they did. Finally, as I drove away after purchasing the vehicle I noticed that the tank was full. Thank you Justin! More

Shipped in the car I wanted. Made an appointment for express pick up but still waited over an hour for five minutes worth of paperwork. Car came with two dead key fobs, and I was left stranded the next day googling how to start the car. Paid cash and didn’t do a trade in because the SA made it clear that they weren’t interested in my trade in (sold to carvana for higher. Ended up being easier). Not impressed with CarMax at all. More

There were also 2 large chips in the windshield, and I opted to try to have them fixed locally and found out they were already attempted a repair and it failed. While in my 10 day return period, I spoke to service. They said they would have it replaced. I contacted Safelite who they contract to replace windshields. Safelite didn’t show. I had to call them to find out why. The tech didn’t have time. I contacted CarMax immediately. Safelite rescheduled, I got a call from them saying they couldn’t replace the windshield and they weren’t sure why anyone scheduled an appointment to begin with as they were short staffed, didn’t have proper tools. CarMax called me and told me that Safelite would come to scan the car. They did not. They cancelled my windshield appointment 11 days after purchase. Can’t return the car, can’t replace the windshield, then was ghosted by both CarMax and Safelite. After ourchasing, I had to question if I even had got the car I bought. The odometer didn’t match the disclosure. Only noticed this when later reviewing the paperwork. Guess I learned my lesson. Also on a side note. The sales person text me, addressed me by the wrong name in the text. I should have taken that as a hint. More
Car wasn’t detailed, needed engine filter, cabin filter, and battery. Key fob was dead and there was a apple tracker left in the vehicle from previous owner. and battery. Key fob was dead and there was a apple tracker left in the vehicle from previous owner. More
Managed to claw a four-star review out of what should’ve been five—lost it in the last stretch, falling at the finish line. Staff was solid. Andrew especially. Guy stuck with me, and I’m not exactly easy to deal with. There was a hang-up getting the title from the county—no fault of his, none on the dealership either—but he stayed on it and got it done. Credit where it’s due. But it ends at four stars. Iowa wants front and rear plates. Simple rule. The Acura didn’t have a front mount when I drove it off the lot. I was told they’d follow up, get something set up locally, take care of it. That follow-up never came. No call. No email. Nothing. I reached out—called, sent an email. Silence. So I handled it myself. It’s a small thing. Not critical. But when you tell a customer you’re going to do something, you do it. Or you at least pick up the phone. When you don’t. And that’s where the fifth star disappears. More
Carmax was the best car buying experience ever. They were very nice prompt and caring during the entire process. They made sure they had everything ready when it came time to purchase the vehicle. The process seemed slow. I got home and one of the fobs didn't go to the car. Called for two days to get a hold of the service department. Never got a call back.
