This was my first experience with Carmax. I came to the dealership as an uninformed first-time customer. Angel (my representative) was amazing! I warned him that I would have a lot of questions, and he was extremely patient with me throughout the entire process. If I felt unsure about the vehicle in any way, he said he would help me find another one for me. Angel did an excellent job addressing my concerns. His patience with me, however much time was needed, resulted in a sale that day. I felt confident he and the Carmax office as a whole operates in honesty. I did not need to look elsewhere for a 'better deal'. Carmax' 10 day, no questions asked return policy along with the 30 day warranty sealed the deal. Since the purchase, the check engine light went on so I had a chance to become acquainted with the service department. I have an appointment in a week to have the issue diagnosed and repaired. If the replacement part(s) are on backorder, they will take that into consideration as far as timeline is concerned. Since my issue is not considered urgent, I left with the car. They suggested I drive it extensively during the wait period and let them know if there are any other concerns. Having a service department on-site is very important - avoids the customer "hoping for the best" as soon as they sign the purchase contract. End-to-end professionalism, courtesy and friendliness! I have already recommended Carmax to my friends. More
Most communication was through a chat bot. It was difficult to ask specific questions. I did not know when I was communicating with a live person. I drove 1.5 hours to test drive the car and the salesman was not available. Another salesman did the paperwork to drive the car and did the paperwork to buy the car. He was off the next day and forgot to put in the paperwork for "the Express Check Out". I waited an hour. When I went to the original salesman to ask what was taking so long, he said I did not make an appointment. I showed him the text conversation confirmation the appointment at 3:30 pm, it was now 5 pm. I got an apology from the Sales Team Manager. More

The first time I purchased a vehicle it was smooth with no issues. The second time everyone was still great but the communication was way off. I planned my schedule around the day that they said the car would be ready - not the estimated day - but the day one of the associates said that it would be ready. When I didn't receive a call, I called because I had taken the day off and wanted to pick up the car. A different associate said it would be 3 more days because the car came from out of state. This information could have been provided, or at least an uncertain answer would have been preferable. I would have understood if they couldn't give me a specific date. Other than the miscommunication, the sales people are all great. More
