Our sales rep, Hpone was exceptional. He was friendly, knowledgeable and went above and beyond to help us. Didn't get the CarMax experience but the car minimum experience lol. I do not recommend the Colma, CA location. The good thing is that they were nice, at least. Too many details; so, here's a short. Ineffective time management. Did the express check out process before arrival only to have to spend more time at the location. They wasted a lot of time. Unknowledgeable about standard business practices. A lot of miscommunications happened. Mileage and damage on the car not reported accurately online. There was a hidden cost. Dealt with too many people (8 people) to get service completed. Had to return because the vehicle wasn't inspected properly and parts were missing and not installed. They did not do a computer diagnostic on the vehicle. They couldn't explain the inspection process in detail. There were gnats in the lobby area. A 20 minute test drive wasn't suitable. The gas tank wasn't full but had to return it on full. Their interest rate was more than double what the credit union offered. Didn't do a fair job of cleaning the vehicle. Didn't get the signature grand purchase experience like some other customers got with the big yellow bow and photo. While waiting in the service area for multiple visits, I noticed their service for each customer was inconsistent. I went based on the google reviews but should've checked the yelp reviews. I went based on a relatives experience of the company, not the location in particular. More

It was a very good experience working with all the various people at the Serramonte Carmax! I was able to easily drive the car I eventually bought, and for the most part the process went smooth. There was some confusion about holding the car, while financing at my bank was in process, and that is why the 4 stars. It would have been easier, once I had shown them my pre-approval from my bank, to be able to more easily hold the car, and get the deal done. Delivery, and or pick-up of the car too did take some communication... but it was awesome they paid for my Lyft ride to the location to pick up the vehicle! More

My experience with CarMax started out fine but turned into the strangest, most frustrating vehicle purchase I’ve ever experienced. After the local car I wanted was reserved by someone else, customer serv into the strangest, most frustrating vehicle purchase I’ve ever experienced. After the local car I wanted was reserved by someone else, customer service helped me find a similar model and I paid to ship it to my local store. I went in, test-drove the car presented to me, completed a four-hour financing process, and drove home happy. Four days later, a sales manager called to inform me that CarMax had sold me the wrong car. It turns out the employee mistakenly handed me the keys to the original reserved vehicle instead of the one I shipped. Because I had already been driving it and liked it, I wanted to keep it, but the management team immediately made me feel like their internal oversight was my fault. Managers insisted I return the vehicle immediately in the middle of the workweek, ignoring the fact that I live 45 minutes away. I felt like they even used scare tactics, claiming I could be pulled over by the police. Resolving the financing was a chaotic mess; I had to act as a middleman, repeatedly calling my loan company and CarMax to fix the paperwork, all while being told I might need a second check. To top it off, despite promises that the price wouldn’t change, I had to haggle with a second salesperson to honor the original deal. The initial salesperson was great, but the management's handling of their own mistake was incredibly disappointing. I was treated like the wrongdoer for an error missed by multiple layers of CarMax staff. More
