The salesperson and chat experience after I reserved the the vehicle to be transferred was pleasant and helpful. This major issue that I ran into was that while I was waiting for transfer of the vehicle, C the vehicle to be transferred was pleasant and helpful. This major issue that I ran into was that while I was waiting for transfer of the vehicle, Carmax reached out to me by phone and text to answer any questions about the buying process. I asked about the buying process over chat since I was planning to finance through my own local bank which I was pre-approved for and add/register my wife as a co-owner. The agent over text indicated that both can be taken care of at the dealership. Specifically regarding adding my wife, I was told that it was okay that she cannot be at the signing in person since she was traveling at the time. I was told that the dealership can verify her over the phon to add her as co-owner. Turned out, neither of that was true. After I test drove the vehicle and decided to purchase, I was told that I had to bring a check from the bank who I financed from, which was difficult for me since I ride-shared to the dealership expecting it to be a simple, quick transaction that didn't require me to leave. I was told that an alternative was to finance through the dealership which I did not want to do. I had to arrange with my local bank to get to their closes branch office, get a check issued, and then ride-share back to the dealership. I was also told at the time of signing that I could not add my wife without her physical presence. The alternative to that is that I can refinance after I sign the current contract to add my wife. I did not want to do that either. I ended up putting the vehicle in my name only. Overall, my time at the dealership was about 6 hours, which I was not expecting. I had to take more time off work that I had planned to and find arrangements for my child to get picked up from school. The salesperson tried his best and was patient with me and tried to go through all the options. The GM of the dealership also personally apologized. More
Very satisfying experience. Process was extremely quick. I don't remember our sales man's last name but he was extremely personable and knowledgeable. Process was extremely quick. I don't remember our sales man's last name but he was extremely personable and knowledgeable. More
The salesman was really cool. Very personable and was pretty honest with me. Probably because I was already pre-approved before I came in. The service department did a poor job on Very personable and was pretty honest with me. Probably because I was already pre-approved before I came in. The service department did a poor job on their detail on the car after I test drove it. The salesman said after I test drove it and verbally decided to buy it that he would have the service department do a last minute detail on it and fill it up with gas, which they did. But they left pretty obvious swirl marks on the paint that weren't there when I drove it the first time. Overall I absolutely would buy this car again from CarMax if I had to. More

Every step of the transaction was handled with carelessness. First, I got a copy of two stranger's IDs and their credit check form signed (one of the strangers had the same first name as me). They carelessness. First, I got a copy of two stranger's IDs and their credit check form signed (one of the strangers had the same first name as me). They failed to have me sign the document myself (my actual version) and it was required for loan to be funded. This ended up saving me because 1 and 2 weeks after I got the car it stopped on me (dashboard said emergency break system engaged). I took the EV ford focus in for service (I had purchased the 2K warranty). Weeks after that I got a call saying that Ford came back with ac estimate, the battery needed to be replaced for 15K. I was told a manager would call me back regarding this (that never happened) I then had only days to get a new car before my hard credit check would be older than 30 days. I got a call from carmax before I took the lender car in, they stated that on fact the deal had gone through and I needed to come in to sign something. I told them that was incorrect, the funds had not been transferred and the loan was pending. After that, the caller changed his tone and said, "ok, so you want to return, you needed to call us...". In summary, they wanted me to think that I was stuck with the car and loan. When I returned the loaner and asked for refund, no questions were asked. They probably realized their issues at this point. My down payment was returned. Never again. The staff is friendly enough, and the service staff was always helpful. But the sales team needs to get their act together and care about their job. These were way too many careless mistakes and negligence. Also, their 160 or whatever point inspection is clearly not any guarantee of car quality. More
