I purchased a vehicle with extreme excitement as I am 8 months pregnant and needed a reliable vehicle. After 13 days of purchase, my vehicle started violently shaking, jerking when attempting to accelerate months pregnant and needed a reliable vehicle. After 13 days of purchase, my vehicle started violently shaking, jerking when attempting to accelerate and felt like it was going to turn off when driving. I took the vehicle in for service and it was found that there was coil replacements needed and the engine mount collapsed and leaking fluid. Since this was a major mechanical failure, I requested an exchange as the car has safety and drivability issues. I spoke to service team members, service manager, business manager and sales manager all noting that since I was 3 days past the 10 day period, I could not exchange and am forced into keeping the vehicle with repairs or appraising it and paying off the loan. I really am not wanting to fight or be difficult. I am simply asking for a resolution beyond just a repair and would like an exchange. I am expected to uphold the legal document of understanding the return window but what about their responsibility to deliver a car that is safe and drivable? I also requested a recap of my conversation with my options other than just a repair and the sales manager said he is unable to put in writing my options other than a repair. More
First time buyer with CarMax and I was surprised how big this dealership is. Found my car in Reno, it was shipped within the week. Agent was honest about the few paint defects, pointing them out (I might not have even noticed). After inspection, carmax was great on fixing minor issues. The only thing that might improve is the service/wait time. I’m not sure why they make an appointment for early morning if they aren’t gonna get to it until 3pm. But very good at arranging rides and accommodating on making decisions to make the purchase warranty right. Shoutout to Anthony for excellent service and follow through. I am recommending carmax to friends! It’s great to have cars that are out of town available for a transportation fee, gave me more options for exactly what I wanted More
Overall, I'd say it was an okay experience with some bright spots and areas for improvement. I was able to get the car I wanted but not without some challenges. There are some workflow / communication issues between the service department and the rest of the teams. I was not able to test drive my car when I put in my appt to test drive at the agreed time via the platform because the service department did not inform the customer rep or update the website at the time of me booking the test drive that the car was not ready until after I had already ubered there to test drive it. I had to call multiple times to confirm that my car was ready for a test drive after being sent home. I also struggled to get hold of the service department after getting a call stating a part they had ordered was ready for pick up. Safe to say, they will probably not pick up given current state workflows/staffing models. I think their business model of no haggling is okay??? but think there should be more flexibility when it comes to making customers whole when they have bad user experience. Ashley, my sales rep was the lone bright spot. She helped me navigate the purchase and sales, answered all my questions and was able to advocate for me when needed. If you want a no haggle used car platform I think CarMax is fine. Some sections of my purchasing experience went smoothly while others really held it back. More
I was so ready to fire off the 5 star review until. ... I was provided one smart key. When I went to the good key shop for a spare I learned I was given an aftermarket key. After two hours, they coul ... I was provided one smart key. When I went to the good key shop for a spare I learned I was given an aftermarket key. After two hours, they could not program the spare. I had to got to the Nissan dealer. I learned the newer Sentra uses a different smart key. It cost $500, not including the key blade, that item was another $100. Without the key blade, there is no key ring. The good news was that they were able to reprogram both smart keys. It took 4 hours. Not a deal breaker but something to know. Otherwise, my entire experience went super. I can't remember the names, but the sales associate came in early so I got immediate service. The supervisor assisted in financing taking about 20 minutes. The refinance at my credit union took over an hour. I was pre-approved. Longer than my entire experience at CarMax. This is the fourth vehicle I have bought at this location. After the first one, I haven't even looked elsewhere. The entire experience is how I think car buying should be. I love the car and loved my experience at the dealership. I absolutely suggest you shop at this Carmax. I hope this helps you. More

They went above and beyond to not only get me in a car - but THE car- I didn't even realize this was the one I wanted till I took one last look at th They went above and beyond to not only get me in a car - but THE car- I didn't even realize this was the one I wanted till I took one last look at the inventory - they were patient and kind while I was struggling to pick the right vehicle- they helped me with all the paperwork and paying my loan is super easy in the app. They explained all my options for finance and insurance and really made it a painless experience:) I highly highly recommend them :) More
Mostly good. Some major issues. First, I was told to get info on the tesla app but it was not available for 5 days. Could not discover how to drive car except Some major issues. Next, I was not given an adapter to allow for me to charge at home. I had to come back to get one. I also came back for more training. I was told to purchase one but not told which one. Finally your service department gave me one. I couldn't get the adapter out of the car and the service man showed me a manual way. The car gets 220 miles for a 85% charge and I was given a higher number like 350. I discovered that is for a new car. Good points. Friendly salesperson who made the paper work easy. Though he misjudged the time it would take. Your way of processing the purchase from beginning to end was magnificent. The follow-up actions when I ran into trouble was excellent. Main issue is more time on training especially for a tesla. The first week having the car was painful. More
From contact via the app and the phone and in person, service was great. I didn’t feel pushed into anything or talked out of anything.
