This was our first time using Carmax. Overall, we were very happy with our experience. The only negative we had, was the cleanliness of the truck. There was grass in the engine compartment and heavy dust in multiple spots inside the truck. After pointing those out, the engine compartment was cleaned but not the interior. That was disappointing. My experience with the buying process was good, quick and easy. However the problem is with the vehicle that I was sold. Less than a month after I bought the vehicle which only had 19,000 miles on it had the easy. However the problem is with the vehicle that I was sold. Less than a month after I bought the vehicle which only had 19,000 miles on it had the battery die on it. I should have know something was up since there was a jump box left I. The vehicle when I test drove it. This is the second vehicle I have bought from CarMax in a year and the exact some thing happened to my last vehicle. Less than a month after I buy the thing both batteries did and need to be replaced for a little over $400. So obviously there was a preexisting issue when they sold the car and even the least possible inspection would find that the batteries were no good but your team still sold me the vehicle. So need less to say this will be the last vehicle I purchase with CarMax. More
Bought my vehicle two weeks ago, called after leaving the lot bc there was white smoke coming from my exhaust. Was told not to worry. Got it inspected by a mechanic and the vehicle is burning oil real bad! H lot bc there was white smoke coming from my exhaust. Was told not to worry. This was the third vehicle my family has purchased from CarMax—fourth if you include my daughter’s purchase—so I was disappointed that there was no acknowledgment or appreciation of our loyalty. While the overall experience was consistent with prior visits, there were several issues that stood out. I did not appreciate being told I could only test drive two vehicles, as that felt unnecessarily restrictive and detracted from the buying process. Additionally, the vehicle we ultimately selected was not properly detailed at the time of delivery. The luggage rack bars had been installed incorrectly, which caused a persistent whistling noise that I had to research and fix myself. I was also concerned that there were no service records provided to indicate whether standard or recommended maintenance had been completed. As a result, I felt it necessary to change the oil and transmission fluid shortly after purchase. That said, the one saving grace in this experience was the sales representative I worked with, Antonio, along with another associate who assisted him—I believe her name was Star. Antonio was relatively new, but both of them were professional, helpful, and did their best to make the process as smooth as possible. They also made an effort to compensate me for the inordinate amount of time it took to complete the sale, which I appreciated—especially since my wife ultimately had to leave and drive home ahead of me. Taken together, however, these issues have left me disappointed and have negatively impacted my perception of the CarMax brand. At this point, I’m not certain I would choose to purchase another vehicle from CarMax. More
