CarShop advertises that their vehicles go through a 125+ point inspection before being sold. I purchased a 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe from CarShop in November, and severe rust on the underside of the vehicle was point inspection before being sold. I purchased a 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe from CarShop in November, and severe rust on the underside of the vehicle was not disclosed at the time of sale. I recently brought the vehicle in for a tire rotation, and while it was on the lift, my mechanic called me into the shop to show me the condition underneath. The level of corrosion was shocking. He told me the rust was more consistent with a vehicle 10–15 years old from a high-salt environment, not a 2021. The entire underbody of the vehicle is covered in rust. This is not minor or cosmetic surface rust. There are large areas where the metal is flaking, breaking down, and visibly deteriorating. The protective coating has failed, and the metal underneath is rough, pitted, and degraded. There are also visible openings in structural parts of the frame where the edges are rusted and deteriorating, showing that the corrosion is affecting the integrity of the metal itself—not just the surface. Rust is present along the structural rails, around mounting points, and along seams and joints throughout the underside. This is not a small or isolated issue—it is spread across multiple areas of the vehicle, including components that are critical to its structure. I have only owned this vehicle for a few months. This is not something that developed over time after purchase, and it is not something that could have appeared in that short period. This condition clearly existed prior to sale. This was a nearly $60,000 purchase. Corrosion of this extent significantly impacts the value, lifespan, and long-term safety of the vehicle. I would not have purchased this vehicle had this condition been disclosed. There is no reasonable way that corrosion of this extent across the entire underbody could have been overlooked or missed during a proper inspection. At best, the inspection was not thorough. At worst, a significant issue was not disclosed to the buyer. Either way, this is completely unacceptable. More
