LIED TO ME I had an intermittent engine light on my Chevy Colorado, after a few months I finally brought it to a dealership to get it fixed right. Please h I had an intermittent engine light on my Chevy Colorado, after a few months I finally brought it to a dealership to get it fixed right. Please have a look at the engine light, I suspect it's an oil pressure switch as I've already run the code. Oh, and also rotate the tires and inspect the brakes (slight pulsing while braking hard). Meet Steve: a 13 year Army veteran who's happy to help out a military brother. "No problem! There's a diagnostic fee, and I'll call you in a couple hours with an update." 5hrs later, Steve calls. He says the oil is contaminated. $450 to flush the system and that should take care of it. The brakes are fine, the pulsing could be the larger tires you have on it. ...wouldn't they pulse all the time then? It's only when I'm braking, tires don't work like that. Calls me back, the brakes are in terrible condition. I shouldn't even be driving on them. and the oil? It has METAL SHAVINGS in it, AND FUEL in it. $5,000 for a new oil pump. Steve tells me that he can put me in a new truck for that price and a trade in. I decided to pick up the truck and get a second opinion. Steve pulls up in a new Colorado and tells me about my oil problem. "Look at your gauges during engine start, you have ZERO OIL PRESSURE for 15 seconds! It's a wonder the truck still drives." I ask him to start up the new truck and I watch the oil gauge...it does exactly the same thing. (it's the computer starting up and testing points). SO. I took it to another shop (not a dealership). They put a pressure sensor on the engine oil cap during start, IMMEDIATE OIL PRESSURE. The system is fine. Also, no contamination, no fuel in the oil, no metal shavings, and the pump is healthy. oh, the brakes? like new. The pulsing is from an uneven rotor, which can be replaced with the next brake job. Steve. You lied through your teeth; your company will not see me again. Thanks....brother. More
Went in for a couple of recalls and an oil change. After serving my Tahoe. I came home with it and found that there was oil residue all over the left side of the engine compartment and front fender. Then I serving my Tahoe. I came home with it and found that there was oil residue all over the left side of the engine compartment and front fender. Then I looked underneath the truck, and found that oil filter was loose and leaking. Service advisor was good. But stay away from there service technicians. More
