I’ve been taking my car to an independent shop for servicing, but the last few times brought it in the dealer, just because it’s a bit more convenient to get to. Well, the last two times have reminde servicing, but the last few times brought it in the dealer, just because it’s a bit more convenient to get to. Well, the last two times have reminded me why I stopped going to the dealer. The customer service is just so much better at my independent shop, better response times, better communication and quicker service. I made an appointment to drop my car off at 5pm yesterday for service today. I arrived at the dealer at 4:45 pm and didn’t sit with the advisor unti 5:25 (apparently the service advisor I was assigned to had already left for the day and didn’t tell anybody). The advisor I did sit with was friendly, added a coupon to more order for the oil change (he said it was part of a package with the $46 fuel additive (whatever I thought, so I’ll get $4 off my oil change). Asked when the car would be ready, was told the afternoon (which I assumed would be around 3. My bad). So the next day, after hearing nothing, I called to check on my car at 2. Received a text back that said my car is almost done and they’d let me know when it was ready. I texted back at 3:15, asking for an update. Got a call just before 4 and was told my car would be ready at 5. So a couple of things: 1.I shouldn’t be the one needing to initiate contact about my car, they can easily text me to let me know what’s going on. 2. Why did it take all xxxx day to just change some fluids? I understand they’re busy, but I wasn’t having any major work done, just an annual inspection and fluid changes. I’m of the opinion that I should have had my car back by 3, at the latest. Especially since I dropped it off the night before. I don’t think that’s unreasonable. 3. The “discount” he provided for the oil change (again having to do a package deal with a fuel additive), when I looked at my receipt, was only for $30. So I ended up paying $16 for something I didn’t need or want. My independent shop (for those looking for a recommendation- Avus Autosport in Glendale), might be a little less convenient for me to get to,but they definitely make up for with their service. More
I'd definitely recommend this dealership for sales, but today's service tech and rep SUCKED!! I went in, no appt because the light came on that indicated that my right rear blinker was out. Easy fix, right today's service tech and rep SUCKED!! I went in, no appt because the light came on that indicated that my right rear blinker was out. Easy fix, right? Not quite. An hour later, I get my car back, started it up and the same light is still on and the blinker STILL doesn't work. xxx?? Walk to my person in charge of the repair and he acts as if it's no big deal that they basically drove my car around the block and gave it back to me. He says they have to change the whole housing because the wires were burned out. And the mechanic didn't see that the FIRST time?? How about when the next guy gave the car back and that warning light was still on? A bunch of numb nuts. I should've known to only deal with my regular guy over there, but thought it was an easy fix so anyone can handle it. Ugh... no. Only deal with Alen Yadegar (service rep) over there. EVER. Trust me. HORRIBLE SERVICE EXPERIENCE - AND NO FOLLOW UP What a horrible service experience. Johnathan Mendez promised me he would be straight with me (after I explained to him that I had bad luck with anoth What a horrible service experience. Johnathan Mendez promised me he would be straight with me (after I explained to him that I had bad luck with another local BMW regarding service). I said I do not want to spend a lot of money to fix the error light that was NOT giving me any driving problems. I just wanted to know if it would cost a lot to find the cause and fix it. The dealership did a diagnostic and he called me to assure me the car was in good shape, and it was this one small problem...a $1600 problem. He said that should do it. Well, I paid the money and the light came back on a few days later. Visit #2...he did another diagnostic and said it needed a repair that I had just done with the previous shop. And instead of telling me to take it back there and have them fix it, he recommended I have him do it again. Which was another expensive repair. And guess what, that didn't solve the problem either. Visit #3… Jonathan told me to bring the car back. Apparently the part they replaced either the first or second time (I'm not sure which from which visit?) was defective. And he said he did me a favor by suggesting to BMW that it should be covered by warranty. ??? It was a new part that had just been installed. But he suggested he did me a favor so I didn't have to pay for the repair again??? Okay, that one shocked me…I didn't even have a reply for it. Visit #4... The light came back on as I was driving down the street just after picking it up from the "favor" he did me. I called on Monday and he said to bring it back. So I did. They kept it for almost a month this time, which meant I was paying for Ubers every day! Another expensive bill at the end of this empty promise, and yes, the light came back on immediately. There was one legitimate repair they did, which has nothing to do with the reason I brought it there in the first place, which caused a new problem. I went back a few months later, with the error light still on, and I talked to the service manager. He gave me a whole "we followed procedure" line, and said he would go through the records and get back to me in a week. It's been months and I've never heard from him. THEY NEVER FIXED THE PROBLEM I BROUGHT IT IN FOR. But they took a lot of my money. I confided all of this with a friend of mine who had taken her car there for 7 visits, before she gave up and took it to another dealership…where they fixed the problem in one visit for almost no money. Basically, if you have a car that is outside of it's warranty and service contract, expect these guys to soak you and never fix the problem. I would have sold or traded the car in, if I thought it would cost this much to "not" fix the error light that wasn't even a real problem. But Jonathan Mendez assured me he was a mechanic with the company for 10 years before he moved to the service provider position. and that he would make sure this didn't become a huge thing…that he would help the service engineers find the problem quickly. And that is exactly the opposite of what happened. I told him on the phone each time I called to tell him that the problems still existed, that I think I should just sell it or go somewhere else. And he kept talking me in to coming back. After the last time, Mr. Mendez wouldn't even take my calls anymore, or return my messages. Do NOT bring your car here for service. They will only return your calls and emails as long as you are spending money and not questioning their work. Once you ask them to be accountable, they will alienate you and try to make you feel like you are wrong. I confronted Jonathan on the phone after the fourth visit, to tell him I was taking the car somewhere else since he never fixed the original problem (which he said should be a simple fix). He begged me to bring it back again, that he would be on top of it. He even introduced me to the service manager that time, who said he also would take care of this personally, and that he was upset after the last time because his team let me take the car without his inspection. When I came back after this 5th visit, still with the same problem, the same service manager acted like he never met me before. NEVER, NEVER NEVER NEVER, EVER, EVER AGAIN! More
