Our car was ready when promised and our questions were answered forthrightly as we consummated the deal with a minimum of paperwork and no hassle. Credit score hit NINE times This was my first time purchasing a car from a dealership and I knew credit score would play a huge role in my ability to get a loan. This was the sec This was my first time purchasing a car from a dealership and I knew credit score would play a huge role in my ability to get a loan. This was the second dealership I visited looking for a newer Mustang. I choose Flemington because they were rated so well, it gave me peace of mind going into the buying process. My mother and I went to visit the vehicle in person and go over pricing soon after browsing the online listing and reviews. Going in I knew my biggest hurdle was going to be my credit score. My score was good (725) but I had no payment history because I had not paid off loans or used credit cards prior to this purchase. Initially, banks were giving ridiculous interest rates. The rates were too high for me to afford so I looked to one of my parents to be cosigner. I knew my mother's income was low and wanted to wait to bring my dad another time to run the numbers. The salesman, however, insisted we try it with my mom first because she was at the dealership already. Foolishly, I agreed to run the numbers with my mom and the rates decreased by an insignificant amount. I was now forced to partner with my father, like I originally wished to. At this point I SPECIFICALLY asked how many times my credit would be hit for having to run my parents separately, which again I only did because the salesman insisted on it. I was told it should only be hit once because my credit info was not changing from the first pull, only the cosigner was changing. My credit score was hard pulled NINE times. Yes you read that correctly, my score was hit 9 times. Four different banks hit me twice each (ran for both of my parents) and then the initial dealership pull. If I had been told this was going to hit my score that much I would not have proceeded forward, considering I was not even sure I was going to buy the car at this point. It is even more infuriating because half of those pulls would not have occurred if the salesman had just listened to me when I did not want to run my mother as a cosigner. My credit score has dropped nearly 40 points since this event and the only negative things affecting my credit score are these hard pulls and a few small (less than $2500) school loans. I am NOT happy. The only positive thing I can say about this dealership is the car's wiring harness for the fuel pump frayed just a week and a half into owning the car and they paid for a tow truck to pick the car up at my home, which is a little more than an hour away. This could have easily been a 5 star review had I not been blatantly lied to and pressured into running my score with my mother when I knew it was futile. More
