To Whom It May Concern, I am writing to express my significant concern regarding a recent service experience at your City Dodge location at 19100 W Capitol Dr, Brookfield, WI. On July 23, I had my significant concern regarding a recent service experience at your City Dodge location at 19100 W Capitol Dr, Brookfield, WI. On July 23, I had my 2014 Dodge Durango towed to your dealership. Before the tow, I spoke with a service technician and clearly explained that the transmission cooler line had disconnected, leading to a substantial transmission fluid leak. I emphasized my suspicion that the critically low fluid level was causing the vehicle's shifting issues. I agreed to a $200 diagnostic fee, understanding it would be applied to the repair cost if I proceeded with your service. A few days later, I was informed that the transmission was "gone" and required replacement, along with other potential issues to be addressed later. I received a quote of $10,865.32 for the transmission replacement and requested time to consider the repair. Upon researching and obtaining quotes from other shops, I discovered that your estimate was nearly $5,000 higher than competitors. When I returned to pick up my vehicle, I questioned how a thorough diagnostic could have been performed without first reconnecting the cooler line or refilling the transmission fluid. The technician informed me that the diagnosis was based solely on computer codes indicating transmission failure. I was also charged an additional $20 for the quote itself. Following this, I took my vehicle to a transmission specialist, providing them with the same initial information. Within a few days, they reconnected the cooler line, refilled the transmission fluid to specification, and cleared all error codes. My vehicle has been running smoothly ever since, and the total cost for this service was $317.73. This experience unfortunately illustrates why many customers are hesitant about dealership service departments. The initial diagnosis was not only inaccurate but also resulted in a recommendation for an unnecessary and extremely costly repair. As an average working individual, I rely on honest and accurate assessments, and I find it unacceptable that I was advised to replace an entire transmission when the problem was a simple, much less costly repair. I hope this feedback promotes greater transparency and integrity in future service interactions at your dealership. More
