Coleman Buick GMC responded

We essentially had two commitments on the same vehicle. There was an offer from the customer that had originally traded the vehicle to us and then shortly thereafter there was your offer. Long story short, the customer’s wife was not happy with the new car purchase and greatly missed their old car. Based on the situation, we decided to honor the customer that made the first inquiry on the vehicle. The decision was not driven by profit. We actually made less by selling the vehicle back to the original owner. Chris Covino did not make the ultimate decision on this; I did. We are all very sorry this occurred and are doing whatever possible to avoid having it happen again. We are searching for another vehicle similar to the one you are interested in and if you are still interested will sell it at minimal profit due to your inconvenience. Regretfully, Drew Coleman.

The response from Mr. Coleman is not true. While it is obvious that you had two commitments on the vehicle, my accepted offer was definitively first. As you said, you are the one who had to agree the price reduction. You would not have accepted a price reduction if you already had an accepted offer from the people you sold it to. Secondly, when Frank called me for the credit card deposit, he even told me that the people came in 20 minutes AFTER we had a deal. It was a full 24 hours later when I was notified that you were selling the car to someone else. I am a business man. I understand about keeping existing customers happy. But I also understand honesty and integrity. When I make a deal with someone, they KNOW they can count on it. What this dealership should have done, is honored their word and sold the car to me. Then they should have told the second in line buyer, that they will search county-wide for a similar car for them. Then they would have two happy customers and be able to sleep well at night.
