BEWARE: Bait and switch tactics and all-around dishonest sales practices. Read my story before buying from this dealership. I hate to have to do this. But, the dealership left me no option. Here’s how my sales practices. Read my story before buying from this dealership. I hate to have to do this. But, the dealership left me no option. Here’s how my experience went from good to horrible. I promise you it would be worth the long read… I negotiated the cost of a “Certified” used 2018 Maxima with only 27K miles over the phone and drove three hours (from Austin) to buy the vehicle from them. I asked the rep (Carson) to give me the total (out of the lot) price with all costs and taxes included and explained (several times) I did not want any surprises. Surprise number one: they do NOT include the price of certification in the quote, even when I asked him to over the phone. They tried to charge me an additional $4K for certification! That is a 15% increase on the price on the spot that they only fessed up to when I reviewed the costs on paper. I wouldn’t have it and was ready to walk out, until they offered to cut that in half. I really didn’t want to waste my trip so I accepted the fact they had just baited me to surprise me with that at the end. Strike one. Then, under inspection, they offered to fix issues with paint chips before I drove off and to fully detail the interior which had a soda sprayed all over the roof. They also promised to fix an issue with the front bumper popping out on one side, and to work on making the headlights look better through detailing. They also promised they would address outstanding issues with my local dealership and pay for any issues that may come up after I left town, which gave me peace of mind. I was so pleased hearing that that I peaked my head into the managers’ office (though, he wouldn’t come out to meet me) to thank and congratulate him for the service. Then, nothing that they promised actually happened. They did not honor their promise, and that is unacceptable to me. All in all, I had to spend $200 in fixing the issue with the bumper, $500 for a professional detailing services to remove the issues with the roof, and simply had to live with the paint and headlight issues. Still, I was trying to be reasonable. After all, I bought a used car. But now that the car was due for its first servicing I also just found out that the jerky breaking I felt from day one had to do with both rotors being warped AND that one of the front sensors is not working properly and needs to be replaced! That’s $1,600 for the sensor AND $350 for the rotors. Both of which are listed as being in proper working order through their (obviously unreliable) “certification” process. I called back several times and they wouldn’t even call me back or pick up my call. I literally had to use a different name to get to my rep and discuss their promise. They tried to blame me for not addressing this earlier (though, I tried). AND, they refused to cover any of the issues they promise to guarantee for me during negotiations. I do not blame Carson alone. Though, I just wish they simply had been upfront about all the issues and not promise something they had no intention of doing. I do blame management for their deceptive practices and for not honoring their commitment to a honest buyer acting in good faith. I will pay all of this myself now, but I am going to share my experience everywhere and with everyone I can, on Google, dealership review sites, the Better Business Bureau, Nissan Corporate and everyone who would listen so they don’t fall trapped to their dishonesty and lack of transparency. Hoping it doesn’t happen to anyone else. Do NOT trust this dealership. Bring in your own mechanic if you (like me) don’t know enough about cars. This is why used car dealers have such a bad rep. Just do the right thing! I probably would have bought the car anyway and given you five stars if you had just kept your promise. You get one star because (at least) the finance manager was very efficient and a bit more transparent on his end (at least, I hope he was), and because this does not allow me to give you zero stars. Horrible experience. Do not buy from these guys. You will regret it. More
