Broken, dangerous cars. It may be impossible to keep this review brief, but I will summarize the best that I can. I moved to the area in October and work right down the st It may be impossible to keep this review brief, but I will summarize the best that I can. I moved to the area in October and work right down the street from Dave White Chevrolet. Wife and I were looking for a car because both of us have to drive to work, and I saw a few in Dave White’s lot. Intial sales experience was fine. I saw the tire pressure warning light on. They said car and tires were perfect. They lied. The used car I bought from them died on the road three days after I purchased it on Thanksgiving day at 4pm, which made it hard to get a tow truck. We pushed it off the road and had family pick us up and we decided worry about it the next day. The salesman (Doug, who was the only good part of the experience) told me to bring the car in when I was back in town from the holiday. Over the next four or five days, the car kept shutting off unexpectedly while braking. At lights, stop signs, and, most terrifyingly, it put my wife in danger when it shut off in the middle of a busy intersection. It was apparent after a tiny bit of research that the transmission was failing. When I took it back to Dave White to have them look at it, they found the problem and offered me an oil change. Insulting. I should also mention that the tires they said were fine actually weren’t. One tire deflated very slowly every week. It was unable to be patched and was an AWD, so I had to replace all four tires. And then I had to replace the failing transmission as well as a timing belt in desperate need of replacement. All of these repairs finished in the first week of Jan. It then ran for a month without a problem until, while parking in a parking garage, every light lit up on the dashboard like a Christmas tree. There was a trail of coolant running from my car all the way into the street. I had to leave the car there overnight, as a tow truck could not get into the garage and come back the next morning with enough coolant to move the car out of the garage. I towed it to a local shop that couldn’t find a coolant leak through a pressure test, so they tried a block test that came back positive. They diagnosed the car to have a head gasket problem. It is now mid February. I go into Dave White and explain the situation. They say they will buy back the car if I buy another from them, so I assume at this point I will just eat the $5000 of repairs already in the car to get rid of this nightmare. What I found out two weeks later is that they MEANT that they would buy back the car at its current (broken) appraised price. I can no longer afford all of this. This car is now sitting in my parking lot until I figured something out. I had just moved here and this car has eaten my emergency savings. I talked with the manager, Tracy, who just keeps repeating that I should have bought the warranty. Should I really have to buy a warranty for a car to work off the lot for three whole days? My car would have been in the shop for months even IF I had bought a warranty. This has been a surreal nightmare. Dave White sells broken products and does not care. They have absolutely zero integrity and no moral or ethical values. If you try to approach them professionally, they ignore you. If you get angry because they have been ignoring you, they will belittle you and tell you they won’t work with you unless you’re nice. The people I work with who live in the area can’t believe a dealer would do this and I am making sure every one of them knows to stay away and not get scammed, or worse, injured. I am now making sure anyone looking at reviews online knows not to get scammed. TL;DR: Moved to the area recently and Dave White sold me a completely broken and dangerous used car that sapped my emergency funds and is still causing me grief after four months. Their customer service is abhorrent and ignored me until I got angry, and then belittled me to tell me to be nice. Car is now sitting at my residence un-repaired because the total costs of repair will almost equal the price of the car. It hasn’t even worked a full month of the four that I have owned it. More
