Brought a 2019 toyota rav 4 with 54,000 miles in for a water leak because i was told it was covered under warranty by 2 different service employees. When the car was dropped off they said it was $150 for water leak because i was told it was covered under warranty by 2 different service employees. When the car was dropped off they said it was $150 for the service charge to inspect the water leak and then they told me it was going to cost $600 to fix it. The issue was the factory installed roof rail clip seals. I knew this beforehand and decided to call another dealer and order said clips, 10 in total costing about $10. I removed the rails and replaced the leaking clips in about 15 minutes. There has been no further water leaks. The whole experience with this situation has really lowered my opinion and the quality of toyota products and services. If toyota won't stand behind a product that can't keep water out for the life of the vehicle it really reflects poorly. Toyota will put a brand new frame on a 10 year old truck for free, but won't fix plastic clips on a 3 year old car for free. Not to mention the area of the water leak has multiple airbags and electronic components that I'm sure will develop problems further down the road. More
