Went for oil change 8/15/25 & a couple hours later my driveway was covered in oil. Had to go back and apparently the guy that changed my oil didn’t put it back in correctly. CLASSIC BAIT-AND-SWITCH WITH ZERO ACCOUNTABILITY I received a quote for a 2024 Hyundai Elantra through TrueCar and was quickly contacted by multiple salespeople urging me to come in for a test drive. received a quote for a 2024 Hyundai Elantra through TrueCar and was quickly contacted by multiple salespeople urging me to come in for a test drive. I asked for real photos of the car, since the listing only had stock images. They couldn’t provide any. I was told the car might be a new trade, and that they would check with the used car manager the next day. When I followed up the next day, no one responded to my follow-up texts. I called, and the salesperson said he’d try to find the car and take photos to send me. Later, he called back and said he couldn't get photos because the car was in the shop for maintenance and a smog check and wouldn’t be available for sale for a day or two. I asked why I was given a quote from the manager and received texts to come in to test drive if the car wasn't for sale. I asked if the maintenance could be expedited, as I was ready to buy today, and if I could just come look at it myself (I already happened to be in the area). He said he’d talk to the service team and call me back. He never did. At this point, it already felt like I was being strung along. But I gave them the benefit of the doubt and drove to the dealership ready to buy. That’s when the salesperson casually told me the car had actually been sold a month ago. I asked why I was quoted a price, told the car was in the shop, and encouraged to come in if it wasn't available. The answers I got were all over the place. “We sold it to CarMax.” “It didn’t meet our safety standards” (weird, since it was a 2024 and had only leased out for around 4 months according to the Carfax.), “Our system needs updating.” One of the managers even told me, "I send quotes all the time," and “I wouldn’t ask someone to come in if we didn’t have the car,” which is almost laughable, because that’s exactly what happened. How was I not told from the beginning that the car was allegedly sold A MONTH AGO?! They weren’t being transparent. They were just covering their tracks in real time, making up excuses as I asked questions. This was a textbook bait-and-switch. They used a low price to get me on the lot, then acted surprised when I showed up asking about a car they never had. Whether it was incompetence or intentional, it was a complete waste of my time. Don’t expect honesty or basic professionalism here. I wouldn’t trust a single thing they tell you over the phone or online. More
