I tried to hash out the deal by phone and in writing before I drove the 125 miles to the dealer. When I arrived, I learned to my unbelievable surprise, that I was supposed to pay an additional $4000, ev before I drove the 125 miles to the dealer. When I arrived, I learned to my unbelievable surprise, that I was supposed to pay an additional $4000, even though I brought a trade-in that was worth at least $7200, if not $9,700 (according to KBB). In my phone negotiation, there was never a word about an additional payment, or perhaps the fact that I would need to bring cash or a check book. In fact, the first time the additional payment was mentioned coherently, was when Manuel told me that Honda Finance doesn't ALLOW that much down-payment on the lease! It then took me quite a while to even grasp that the offer that was presented to me included the additional $4000 payment! More
