I checked around on the internet to get an idea of prices & availability of several makes & models (small commuter cars), and then took a Saturday to start my final search. Having had a good experience with Jeff previously, I went there first, and he found a new, basic, manual transmission (my request) Versa on the lot that was on sale, making it only a little more than most of the used cars I had been looking at. With the warranties, etc that are available with a new car, I realized that this would be the best way to go - even though I hadn't thought of buying a new car - it ending up being a great solution, with my payments hardly any different than they had been before -- a great experience!
