This was the second car that I got from Downtown Toyota. Reps are nice. I got lucky because the car I wanted was in stick (just arrived on the truck that morning) Reps are nice. I got lucky because the car I wanted was in stick (just arrived on the truck that morning) More
i had an issue with my battery dying. my crosstrek was a 2018 and i thought it was strange that the battery had died so quickly, but i replaced it with a high quality cold weather battery my crosstrek was a 2018 and i thought it was strange that the battery had died so quickly, but i replaced it with a high quality cold weather battery from napa auto parts. but the car kept dying with the new battery, so i took it in to this dealership. i was told that there was nothing wrong with the car, and that it was a bad battery. i pushed back on that, and with a patronizing tone was told that it was the battery and not the car and that because i bought the battery elsewhere that they couldn’t help me with it. napa auto parts was incredible and quickly replaced that battery with another brand new one for me. the car then kept dying. so i took it in again and explained that this was now the 3rd newer battery and asked them to figure out what was wrong with my car. again, i was told that the diagnostic testing was showing that it was a bad battery and there was nothing wrong with the car. i knew this was not true, and essentially had to beg the person to do a deeper dive to figure out what was wrong. i think because i was not willing to get off the phone, he finally agreed to do so. the issue was that they had missed an update in the car that had to do with the charging of the battery. it was their fault originally, but i never received an apology and was never compensated for the battery i had to pay for, never mind the countless hours i wasted dealing with my car being dead, aaa coming and jumps from friends, or the times it was at the shop. in fact, i asked them to pay for a new battery and the dealership refused. i had to call subaru customer care to explain the situation and they agreed to cover the cost of the 4th battery. i can’t help but feel that this interaction was gendered and if i had been a man, who on the first time pushed back and said please figure out what is wrong with my car would have been taken more seriously. it is also extremely disappointing that i never got an apology and had to spend more of my time getting the battery covered by subaru customer care. i am still out $200 for the first battery i paid for, which also feels extremely unfair. i would not recommend this service center, especially if you are a single woman. they have lost my business for sure. Friending, accommodating and flexible. Not sure about accuracy about time-frame but got done much sooner rather than later at least.
