I came to Jon Lancaster (JL) to look at used compact SUVs. I was recently in an auto accident where my vehicle was totaled. I was turned down by both UW Credit Union, and US Bank, to get a pre-approved SUVs. I was recently in an auto accident where my vehicle was totaled. I was turned down by both UW Credit Union, and US Bank, to get a pre-approved loan and thought I was doomed. I drive about 35 min to work and the same amount of time from work, back to home, so transportation is very important. Prior to visiting any dealerships, the vehicle I mostly had in mind to purchase was a Ford Escape. My wife and I both did research on line as to what the best value and ratings are, currently, for used compact SUVs. By way of FYI, both the Ford Escape, as well as the Toyota Rav4, made the list. I decided upon four dealerships to visit, based upon several factors. The list consisted of Kaiser Ford, Capitol Ford, JL, and Middleton Ford. As you see, JL was 3rd on the list. I never made it to Middleton Ford. The salesperson from JL, Rudy Rivera, was humble, and stated that he just wanted to help (some say that, but he lived up to it). I was sold on him selling me value, as well as something that I would be happy purchasing. I test-drove the Rav4 and the Escape with him; he was not too pushy on either solution, and was patient. He helped me to feel at ease and was levelheaded. He was humble and matter of fact when he listened to me describe some of the other dealership solutions that I showed to him, as well as how JL achieved a rating of A+ from the better business bureau, here in Madison, from a Web site that I found. After test-driving both solutions, I internalized that the Ford Escape would have been an emotional decision; the Toyota Certified Rav4 was the logical decision. I said to him "what this one has, the other doesn’t," and, "what the other one has, this one doesn't". He said, "Well, I could combine both of them for you, and show you something that would represent both", but he said "your price range wasn't practical for that" (at least at this point in time) which was a huge selling point on my decision to choose the Rav4. This is not my dream vehicle but it became the best solution, at least for now. It turns out, the main reason I liked the Ford Escape, was due to it being the 2010 model. If anything, I would actually like to add a few more extras such as driver/passenger side window tinting. Perhaps an upgrade on the stereo, the one that is in the Rav4 that I purchased is ok, it is loud, but the loudness is not really quality loudness (difficult to explain). Another benefit to the Rav4 solution is that I like how my wife and I are now 'cloaked' in protection and coverage (more so than w/ last vehicle). I also like that we own this vehicle, rather than leasing it. The best solution for me, at this point in time, does not fit into a leasing solution. Signing all the paperwork was a bit redundant (as Steve and I laughed about), but Steve made this go as efficiently as possible, which I did appreciate. More
Last week, when the economy hit our family, it was time to cut expenses and capitalize on efficiency and affordability. Jon Lancaster Toyota was our first stop. We traded in our 2007 Toyota Camry and a 2007 Ford Edge SUV for two 2010 Toyota Corollas. We chose the "S" Series for both and the only difference between them was the color. After having a SUV, I can tell you that the fuel efficiency alone made me fall in love with the Corolla. But, the Corolla is also a fun, sporty, quick-on-the-corners kind of ride. Lot's of fun and we don't miss the extra gas expenses at all. We are saving over $3700 per year in fuel cost. That's like giving yourself a raise! I rated the overall experience as excellent because they provided maximum trade-in allowance, 0% interest for 60 months, and a fantastic deal on a car that you really get your moneys worth from. Also, the friendliness and dedication to customer care was very positive. The bottom line is this: BUY FROM JON LANCASTER TOYOTA AND ASK SPECIFICALLY FOR MIKE BUSK. He was our sales rep. and was knowledgeable, friendly and caring. When our Corollas our spent, we'll be back here for two more! More
I have owned 3 Toyota Corollas, keeping each one for 10 years. It was time to replace the 2000 model, but unlike previous years, this time I did not go directly to Toyota. I wanted to compare other manufacturers given the recent publicity. Narrowing my search to the Honda Civic and the Corolla I finally settled on the Corolla even though I really liked the Civic and that sales person. It was in no small part due to Mark's sales approach. I was dreading having to work with someone who would try to convince me to buy "extras" that I didn't want. My focus was on reliability, fuel economy, and safety. Mark thoroughly reviewed the features and noted advancements since my purchase 10 years ago -- no serpentine belt! I spent a good deal of time reading reviews, called my insurance agent, and checked with several people who own Toyotas. Mark spent a lot of time answering all of the questions I accumulated, some of them very petty. Initially I always miss the Corolla I've just turned in, but this trade-in made the parting much easier as the new car became very affordable. When I picked it up Mark took the time to go over the all of the "bells and whistles" -- and there were several compared to the 2000 model. Everyone I met at Jon Lancaster Sales was personable, competent and helpful. The addition of 2 years' free maintenance and the loaner car policy is greatly appreciated, too, and shows the attention to customers' needs. Mark and I have agreed to meet again in 10 years when I'll be looking for my next car. More

He knows the meaning of great customer service, and he exceeded our expectations in every way. We have never had a better car buying experience. We continue to take both of our cars to Lancaster's for service (we also have a 2000 Camry purchased there). There are many reasons -- quality of work, the honesty and competency of the mechanics and service advisors, and friendly, courteous professionals who bend over backwards to make sure we are happy. I'll start this with the price. This dealership was very upfront with their pricing. I told Scott that we had looked at many cars and had decided on the Venza. The paper work went smooth. It was a very pleasant process, friendly and informative without undue pressure to purchase any extras. The overall experience wall great. The entire building is really nice and even salesmen not working with us would ask if thay could get us something to drink or snack on. We had a great experience and would definatly recommend/return to this dealership and Scott Schrimpf our salesman. More
