East Madison Toyota responded

The vehicle in question was an in stock unit. It got sold prior to the customer committing to the vehicle, or before we accepted terms from the customer. This is a model and package we sell and will again re-stock. Vehicles are first come, first serve. This customer is from a different state and inquired by email and obviously new it was a hard to find vehicle. Of all people he shouldn’t be surprised it was gone and it’s not as if he drove here from Michigan, it was an inquiry if the vehicle was available to purchase . There was a concern about it showing available on some websites, but they aren’t always real time. We are sorry we couldn’t fill the order for the guest and we were very upfront that it got sold. It sounds like a frustrated shopper. We really do try to make things go smoothly for each and every transaction. We spend a lot of time and effort trying to earn people’s business and don’t intend to waste ours or someone else’s time by intentionally offering cars and trucks we can’t produce. I can assure you that bait and switch is not a Jon Lancaster tactic, and if you read the other 100’s of responses, you will find nearly all are happy with how we do business. Does every deal go perfectly, no. Perfection is a goal, and we appreciate feedback on both sides to help us grow toward that goal! Thanks, John Wineke GSM
