Jon Lancaster Toyota prides itself on taking outstanding care of our guests, as attested by the hundreds of positive responses from our loyal guests. However, we are human and we may make mistakes at times. In this situation it is unfortunate that the above person making the complaint is not actually a customer, it is the boyfriend of our guest. When I received the original e-mail, I understood the concern and read that he was “very disappointed”. However, the term “excludes prior sales” is clearly stated in the e-mail. When a sale is decided on it happens very quickly and is not something the manager or sales staff gets involved in. When the marketing arm of our business comes up with a sale (and it is agreed upon), it’s executed in a very timely manner with little notice. When I received a phone message from the gentleman making the complaint, I promptly returned the call and explained the situation. When the gentleman was not satisfied with our reasoning, I asked him what he was hoping we would do for him? He responded by saying “I don’t know”. If he had just told me what he had wanted, we could have all moved forward. When our salesperson talked to the actual guest, we offered her a $100 gas card which she graciously accepted. We later got a phone message from the boyfriend stating ”You can keep your gas card”. He wasn’t satisfied with what the guest, and we felt was acceptable. Below is the email that was sent to us by the actual guest. I apologize for any confusion I may have attributed to in this instance, and sincerely appreciate the guest’s business and hope we can be of assistance to her in the future.
