We came to an agreement on the car price and decided to come into the dealership. Prior to going in I called several times to confirm and sent a few emails. I get to the dealership confirmed the price again. I start working with a salesman under Jim they took down my information. I told them I don't want to have my credit ran until we have the paperwork in front of us with the final numbers. Not only did they run my credit without my permission but they also made me wait until after closing. At that point Jim came in and told me the number that we agreed upon will not be able to be offered. I asked if he just lied to me on the phone and he flatly answered, "yes". They have very deceptive practices. Take my advice and work with another dealer there are plenty around town. The other thing is be careful going into the store. They have employees working with customers without a mask. More

Got an oil change as usual... was quoted for new brakes because they were at 4mm(which is on low end). Took to another mechanic and found out pads were fine and had 7/8mm left! Dealership uses Deceptive sales practices I filed an FTC and BBB complaint against this dealer. They advertise discounted price that includes Freight on their website. Then when I was at the dealer the numbers they were coming up with were much higher. They kept telling me they had to charge freight as they have to pay it but I couldn't quite get the numbers. It appears they will do what they can to get you in the door, but they just waste your time. When I returned home, I saw the price online included freight already ( so they were charging it back again at the dealer to make more money...When I gave them this feedback, their GM Mike Meah called to give me new pricing to make a deal. I tried to explain my concerns but he did not want to hear it and essentially hung up on me as he was only interested in getting a deal done. I don't think they get it...if they offered me a better deal than I was already getting I wouldn't have bought with them as they lost trust in their deceptive practices. If they were up front and needed that $1,000 they should not have reflected it as included in their online pricing already. Additionally they say they use KBB pricing on their site for trade in values and allow you to estimate your trade on their website where their pricing is to calculate your payment, but then they do not offer you close to that value at the dealer. It just all is very suspect and not a good way to treat your customers. I do not recommend this dealer and I made a deal with another dealership.. If you need a Hyundai in this area, I strongly recommend you try Wilkins Hyundai, Patrick Hyundai (Schaumburg) or Palatine Hyundai. They are much more transparent about their pricing, not confusing, and clear about add-ons they are charging for. If you do decide to buy from Elgin Hyundai, I strongly suggest you triple check all numbers on your bill before signing anything (They scramble up the numbers a bit on the sheet they first provide you vs other dealers which lay them right out. They also slip in various add ons without explaining them up front). They also do not let you keep it so you can think it over further and validate their numbers. More
