My mom had to call the dealership on Tuesday and she spoke to the service manager Rick. He refunded my mom her money back and offered to bring her a rental car where she lives which is 21/2 hours away and fix her car all for free. My mom declined the rental car and their services but she was very pleased with their urgency with trying to fix the situation.

Joe, my name is Scott Howell and I am the General Manager at Tynan’s Nissan. I called your wife, Tiffany, and she filled me in as to what your concerns are with our dealership. We hold ourselves and our employees to a very high standard, and being completely y honest and transparent is a condition of employment with our organization. During my discussion with Tiffany, I learned that the “deal” that you were asking for was an additional $3500 discount, rather than for us to offer you the same discount on a higher trim level. As a result, our manager misunderstood your request. In our mind, the “deal” that we’re offering could not possibly be adjusted an additional $3500. I sincerely apologize for us not clarifying your proposal immediately. We made a poor assumption that you couldn’t possibly be asking us to sell a $35,550 new car at a $14,050 discounted price of $21000. It isn’t your responsibility to make sure we understand your offer properly, it is ours. We will be training our staff to ensure that we handle this properly in the future. If you wish to discuss this further, please call the dealership and they will put you in touch with me directly. Kindest Regards, Scott.

Joe, Ricky Newman here. I am the Sales Manager that ruined your experience at our store on Saturday night. I would first like to offer my most sincere apologies to you and your wife for the way things happened on Saturday. I take complete responsibility for how we got here. I don’t believe in making excuses, so I won’t. I take a great deal of pride in the way I have always done business and continue to do business. The most important people in our building are our customers without whom we have nothing. In looking back on our encounter Saturday evening, I can see your point. Plain and simple, I screwed up. I should have just offered you any Leaf in stock for the group buy offer of $4500 Tynan discount plus all of the factory and tax incentives. I feel stupid for not catching onto what you guys were actually asking me to do. Then to top it off, out of frustration with myself, I let my emotions take over and decided it would be a good idea to get smart with you. “I thought you were being reasonable.” The moment the words passed my lips I knew I had crossed the line. I know I was totally out of line and completely unprofessional, and for that I apologize. All of the details aside, I could have done a much better job for you and your wife. All you guys want to do is buy a new Leaf and I couldn’t listen to you well enough to even come close to making that happen. Again, my most sincere apologies to you and your wife. Best Regards, Ricky Newman

Hi Scott.. thanks for the reply. To be honest your reply is the exact reason why I posted my review. To shift blame is always a bad thing when working in a sales industry. Clearly you were misinformed by your employee. We went in looking to purchase a Leaf. The flyer we received listed the MSRP of the Leaf S at 32,000, while on the Nissan USA website it lists the MSRP for the leaf s at 29,000 ( http://www.nissanusa.com/electric-hybrid-cars ). Since there was a 3k discrepancy in the price you listed vs the price Nissan listed I offered to purchase a leaf SV at 32,000 or the S at 29,000. Since the MSRP of the leaf SV is 34,000, I thought an offer of 32,000 was a fair price. So if a customer simply walked in an offered you 2k under MSRP on a car, that would be a fairly reasonable offer dont you think? No, your company did offer incentives on this car which I didnt take in to account when negotiating the price of the car. So after your manager agreed that they would sell us the SV for 32,000 (again which seemed fair considering it was 2k under msrp) and told us to pick a car we figured that the deal was done and would be purchasing a new car. Then when your manager came back selling us the car at list price and then using the discounts to lower the price, this was unacceptable and we walked away since you've not removed the incentives we were going to use to purchase the car. Since the discounts were separate of the sale price I dont understand how you could not comprehend this? Then to turn around and blame me and my wife for not understanding seems ludicrous. Again, you have to understand that we both own businesses and know how supply and demand work. If your manager simply said to us, he listen, we're giving you some big incentives and we really cant go any lower than MSRP we would have been totally fine, but when he said yes, we can sell you the car for 32,000 then try to hide the method he was going to get the car down to 32k by removing the incentives this was just bad business and very underhanded. In an industry thats based on end user satisfaction, its pretty clear that your management team really doesnt care or assumes their customers are extremely stupid which is how we felt when leaving. Your manager clearly understood what we were asking for as it was very clear to both your sales person and manager that we wished to purchase the SV for 32k (again 2k off of MSRP) stating that he didnt understand that would be ok if he didnt try to offer us the deal he did. but clearly from his offer he understood that we wished to purchase it for 32k since he used the incentives to reduce the price to 32k.
