Shady dealership sold a CPO car with an emissions code I just want to state that the salesman, Mike Goldstein is awesome. He was very nice and if I had just dealt with him, I would have been a very happy customer. The below review was written on 2/11/19: I purchased a Certified Pre-owned (CPO) vehicle from Freehold Ford on Tuesday, January 22nd and financed the vehicle with Teachers Credit Union. Upon purchasing the vehicle, Tommy from Freehold Ford sold me a 3,000 Extended Service Plan. As is my right, I decided that I wanted to cancel the warranty on Thursday January 24th, so I called the Ford warranty hotline. The hotline informed me that the dealer had not registered the warranty yet and so they could not cancel it. I then called Freehold Ford and spoke to Tommy. While on the phone with Tommy he became very rude and refused to register the warranty so that I couldn’t cancel it. He said I couldn’t cancel it because it was part of the vehicle contract. When my relative asked him (while were driving if it is actually written into the vehicle contract of does the warranty contract state that you have to keep the contract he said no, she asked can the warranty contract be cancelled and he said yes, it could). She then told him that she expects that the warranty should be registered so it can be cancelled if I wanted to cancel it, as it states on the warranty contract that it can be cancelled within 30 days. When I called the Ford warranty hotline again, they told me to write a letter and fax it to them so that the warranty could be cancelled, I faxed the letter as I was told to. I have not received communication stating that my warranty has been cancelled. On Monday, January 28th, when I started my car, a check engine light appeared on the CPO vehicle that I purchased. I had the code read, the code from the check engine light stated that something was wrong with one of the catalytic converters on the car. The batteries in my key fobs had also died, when I went to replace them, I discovered my key fobs were glued shut. At this point, I was sorely disappointed in the quality of the vehicle I had purchased and the customer service from Freehold Ford. I received a voicemail from Tommy on Tuesday, January 29th stating that if I wanted to cancel the warranty, I could refinance the car in order to lower the payments, but he told me that my interest rate would have to be higher. I never intended to refinance and sign another contract because I was fine with the payment amount as it was, I just wanted to cancel my warranty. When I went to Freehold Ford on Thursday, January 31st in order to drop my car off for service and to have my key fobs replaced, I was ambushed by Tommy and some man who was apparently the owner. After I turned in the key fob and the vehicle to the service section. Tommy and the other guy told me that I had to sign another contract, or I would be unable to get my car back after it is serviced. I was told that my loan had not been approved by the credit union and that they would have to run my credit again and I would have to sign another contract. I told them that they could not run my credit and that the loan had been approved. I then told them that I would have a lawyer contact them, at this point Tommy laughed. I went to the service section and requested my key, and it was returned to me. I refused to have my credit run. Later my fiancé and a family member of mine came to the car dealership, and Tommy denied stating all of the above, and even when he conceded that he would have the key fobs replaced he later lied and said that he had not said that. He also had said they were not responsible to have the car fixed so it would pass inspection. He even tried to pass the car off as a used vehicle. However, it was pointed out to him that it was CPO car and they had to fix it to pass inspection. At this point he said that he had to get approval from the manager because he could not approve the service center to fix the car. He kept us waiting for approximately 30 minutes while waiting for the manager who was in a meeting. While we waited overhear another gentleman in the dealership having a conversation with one of his coworkers stating “I don’t know why they are giving them such a hard time it’s a certified preowned car and they have to fix it” When he came out he said the vehicle would be fixed and we left leaving the vehicle with Kyle after a “few words.” I was told that I would be called on Wednesday February 6th and offered a loaner car if they still had my vehicle. I never received a call to be extended that courtesy. On Thursday, February 7th, my vehicle still was not completed. I had to call multiple times in order for them to even start work on my vehicle. When my vehicle was completed and returned to me on Friday, February 8th, I received it with the same broken key fobs. I was told some story about how the key fobs were special and had to be ordered. I find it difficult to believe that the key fob couldn’t have arrived in a week. That same night, I went to visit family and had to be driven home because the car would not start with the key fobs. Upon prying open one of the key fobs to attempt of use a key we noticed there were no key inside the key fobs. I feel that as young woman, that is very dangerous and a major safety concern. Had I been out by myself and not with family, perhaps on a strange place anything could have happened. It is now February 11th, I had not received any communication about replacement key fobs nor had anyone from Freehold Ford reached out to me in order to speak about their horrible customer service and shady business practices. I also want to mention that because of their oversight in not ordering the key fobs in a timely manner, I will have to drive back down to Freehold Ford in order to have them reprogrammed. I live about 40 minutes away from their location. As far as I know the warranty has not been registered by Freehold Ford (perhaps they are waiting for the 30 days to expire) so I have difficulty in canceling the warranty. I am at this point requesting that the warranty be registered by Freehold Ford so that I can cancel the warranty within the 30 days. I have also informed the warranty company of this ongoing problem with Freehold Ford, and I believe the that Freehold Ford ran my credit without my permission which is a violation of the FCRA. My license plates have not arrived for the vehicle. It’s almost a month, I’ve never purchased a car where it has taken longer than two weeks for my plates to arrive. It would seem that someone is being very lax in their job duties. This is the third Mustang that I’ve owned, I’m very loyal to the Ford brand. My experience with Freehold Ford has made me never want to step into another Ford again, for fear that I will have the same experience in another Ford dealership. More

After a few going back and forth with his boss I did get what I wanted and I left a very satisfying happy customer. I did tell all my friends and family about this place and everyone love the new car. I will be back however in a few years for a new one. To all at Freehold Ford, I thank you from the bottom of my heart. More
