Dave helped us test drive a few SUVs and I was grateful for his help. It took a turn when I said we didn’t have time to purchase today and had to come to grips with paying more than we expected. I called him back immediately after leaving and asked if they would take a deposit so I could come back Tuesday when I had time to complete the purchase. He said no due to vehicles selling so fast right now. I was fine with that but when I asked if he could keep an eye out for what we were looking for, he said “you can watch the website.” I feel like the appropriate response would have been “I can’t take a deposit to hold it for you but you’ll be my first call Tuesday if that vehicle is still here.” It’s been a week, the vehicle is still there, and no call. Now I’m looking at buying the same vehicle from a different dealer. Just didn’t seem like Dave was interested in selling to us. He also asked if the delay was because I was having trouble coming up with a down payment. Which I thought was offensive. I could buy the vehicle in cash. More
