Joe Gambino, Sr has had a passion for cars since he was a young boy. Growing up in Brooklyn, New York he was afforded many opportunities, but none compared to his dreams of one day owning his own car dealership.
In 1956 Mr. Gambino and his wife moved to Phoenix, AZ and purchased Bobby Unser Chevrolet in 1983. The store was renamed Joe Gambino Chevrolet shortly thereafter. For years, Mr. Gambino lived the life he had always dreamed of and enjoyed the privilege of being the furthest Chevrolet dealer west in the country. People flocked from miles around to visit Joe Gambino Chevrolet because of their honest, up-front business model: We're not completely satisfied until you're completely satisfied.At Joe Gambino's Gateway Chevrolet, we believe a trusting relationship with our customers is the best way to run a business. We don't just want one-time customers; we want you to purchase vehicles from us for generations to come. A lot of things have changed over the years, but two things remain the same. A family owned business with over 30 years of experience in the Phoenix, Scottsdale, Glendale and greater Arizona area, and our philosophy: we're not completely satisfied until you're completely satisfied.
In 1997, Joe Gambino Chevrolet became Gateway Chevrolet and in January 2002, they moved from their old location on East Van Buren to a brand-new state of the art facility in the Avondale Automall located at 9901 W. Papago Freeway. The new location provided expanded service bays, comfortable customer areas and even more room for inventory; but most importantly, an ease of business that can only be translated into happy customers.Joe Gambino, Sr has a son Joseph (or Joe Jr.) Joe Jr's affinity for rare automobiles and to be just like his dad led him into the business at a young age. When Joe Jr was 23, he became a sales person at Gateway Chevrolet. His determination for success and perfection led him up through the ranks until 2010 when he became the General Manager of Gateway Chevrolet. Committed to selling cars at a great price and maintaining a positive relationship with the community, Joe Gambino, Jr. and Joe Gambino's Gateway Chevrolet have become a staple in the Phoenix and Greater Arizona area.

Caught staticky radio before purhase. They Promised it would be fixed. After i bought the truck it was not fixed and was told there was no fix at this time and that i had to deal with it. Everyone we met was very attentive and reliable, especially Oscar and Moe. Their lobby was full of customers, that should be good thing, right?! We left happy with our purchase. The Finance Guy actually carried a conversation, unlike at other dealerships, the finance guy just gets down to the nitty gritty. Clean lot and tons to choose from. Overall we had a great experience considering the modern era of buying cars being no longer fun and you’ll most likely overpay for something that isn’t your fist choice. That being said sherif was very prom era of buying cars being no longer fun and you’ll most likely overpay for something that isn’t your fist choice. That being said sherif was very prompt and continued to keep up conversation for the 5 months we waited for a Tahoe. He called us one day and said one was in. We ended up paying about 4k more the the unit on the lot over the one we ordered but it was most worth it. I was a huge fan of the dealer not charging a premium and that’s why we stuck with the waiting game and we were willing to fly in and drive home. Sharif even picked us up from our hotel! Once at the dealer I wasn’t a fan of the $1000.00 gateway package. It’s a b.s add on amounting to maybe $75 in parts and $100 in labor. Door guards, wipe on wax and window tint I actually requested not be added as it will cost me more to have it removed when applying the tint we want. Upon arrival the car wasn’t ready. It had scuffs marks on all the bumpers and the “spray way” wasn’t even applied to the hood and bumpers. When I presented this issue I was first told I was crazy. Later the GM came out and agreed. This $1000.00 non negotiable package includes door guards that protect the door edges from digs and scratches when opening. The problem with this is the rear passenger door already and a chip on the edge… instead of addressing this issue pre install, the installer ignored it and installed the clear guards over the top. In fairness the dealer told me to fix once at home and they would pay$200 towards the repair. Still leaves a sour taste in my mouth considering I paid $70,000.00 for a suv as a loyal GM customer and it’s “brand new”. Overall I’d say I was 80% happy with the purchase.
