Joe Gambino, Sr has had a passion for cars since he was a young boy. Growing up in Brooklyn, New York he was afforded many opportunities, but none compared to his dreams of one day owning his own car dealership.
In 1956 Mr. Gambino and his wife moved to Phoenix, AZ and purchased Bobby Unser Chevrolet in 1983. The store was renamed Joe Gambino Chevrolet shortly thereafter. For years, Mr. Gambino lived the life he had always dreamed of and enjoyed the privilege of being the furthest Chevrolet dealer west in the country. People flocked from miles around to visit Joe Gambino Chevrolet because of their honest, up-front business model: We're not completely satisfied until you're completely satisfied.At Joe Gambino's Gateway Chevrolet, we believe a trusting relationship with our customers is the best way to run a business. We don't just want one-time customers; we want you to purchase vehicles from us for generations to come. We want you to become a part of the Gateway Chevrolet family, and believe, just as Joe Gambino, Sr did, that a family run business is the best type of business.
A lot of things have changed over the years, but two things remain the same. A family owned business with over 30 years of experience in the Phoenix, Scottsdale, Glendale and greater Arizona area, and our philosophy: we're not completely satisfied until you're completely satisfied.
In 1997, Joe Gambino Chevrolet became Gateway Chevrolet and in January 2002, they moved from their old location on East Van Buren to a brand-new state of the art facility in the Avondale Automall located at 9901 W. Papago Freeway. The new location provided expanded service bays, comfortable customer areas and even more room for inventory; but most importantly, an ease of business that can only be translated into happy customers.Joe Gambino, Sr has a son Joseph (or Joe Jr.) Joe Jr's affinity for rare automobiles and to be just like his dad led him into the business at a young age. When Joe Jr was 23, he became a sales person at Gateway Chevrolet. His determination for success and perfection led him up through the ranks until 2010 when he became the General Manager of Gateway Chevrolet. Committed to selling cars at a great price and maintaining a positive relationship with the community, Joe Gambino, Jr. and Joe Gambino's Gateway Chevrolet have become a staple in the Phoenix and Greater Arizona area.

My family has bought 2 vehicles from Gateway, this would have been our third. Unfortunately John Elian ruined it for our salesman Trevor Vona. I have always been used to Gateway undervaluing the trade by a have been our third. Unfortunately John Elian ruined it for our salesman Trevor Vona. I have always been used to Gateway undervaluing the trade by a little but playing games with the numbers up top to make you feel like you were getting a deal. This time I had secured financing ahead of time through my credit union and just didn't want my credit pulled. We did the song and dance, looked over numbers and I agreed to the deal. I told Trevor I wouldn't fill out the credit application on the advise of my credit union. He went to ask John Elian, the sales manager, about this and next thing I know, John is storming outside with my keys in his hands. They come back and say "oh we didn't see this or that, we have to take 1500 off your trade because its not worth what we already quoted you" I had 2 other dealerships value the trade and knew it was BS. I told them I was already accepting them undervaluing it and I wasn't budging. They asked me to come back the next day to have the body shop appraise it. At that point they had lost the sale. Next day I found a nicer model with almost all the features I wanted and bought it. Had John not played his little game with my trade value, I would have prob signed paperwork that night. All of that because I told him I wouldn't fill out a credit application. Won't shop at Gateway again. Sad they lost David Dadisho, he always made you feel like you were being taken care of. More
