Within the first minute of my discussions with the service advisor, she related Toyota recommended a brake fluid flush ($149) and an emissions service ($199) for a vehicle the age and mileage of my Prius. I came for an oil change and was immediately confronted with an effort to upcharge me $348. I declined the services. The next day I examined carefully my Prius' Maintenance Guide and Owner's Manual. There was no mention of a need for a brake fluid flush or an emission service in either book. More
