Hi David, John Gilboy here. I'm sorry you had this negative experience at our store. Is there anything I can do to make it up to you?

Sir, we are committed to providing high quality customer service, but based on your DealerRater review, you did not share that experience. That is very disappointing to us, and I would like the opportunity to work with you to resolve any issues with your experience at our dealership. Let me address all of your concerns, in order. The car was not a "smoker". We acknowledged the burn hole and offered to repair it for you. While we do our best to make our pre-owned inventory "like new", some environmental wear does occur. Stone chips, tar, and the like occur when a car is driven on the road. As you know, this was a pre-owned car, not one that just came off a car carrier from the factory. The scuff you are referring to as a gouge was not on the fender, it was on the plastic bumper at the rear of the vehicle, underneath the vehicle. It was not on any metal parts and was not a corrosion concern. In order to see the scuff you had to crawl underneath the vehicle. So this was not a cosmetic concern. The driver's door dent we offered to repair and most likely would have been taken care of with paintless dent removal. No body work or painting would have been necessary. The brakes and rotors on the vehicle were in perfect working order. In fact, HOURS after you left the car was sold to a very satisfied and happy customer. We have been in business for almost 60 years, and we are always upfront and honest with our customers - local or from 250 miles away. You had concerns about this vehicle, and I acknowledge them. I just don't think you are painting an accurate picture of the vehicle's condition. While I respect your valuation of the vehicle's "defects", they were nowhere close to $2,000. As I mentioned before, the vehicle was sold hours later for more money than you were willing to pay.

Sir, Let me address your reply: 1) The car smelled of smoke the second the doors were open. There was a burn hole in the seat and a melted defect in the plastic console. 2) You never offered to repair the burn hole in the seat, but when I asked you how much a seat cover was, you said it was over $500!! 3)The rear bumper had a gouge, not a scuff. It was clearly visible without crawling underneath the car. It was a cosmetic concern. 4)You never offered to repair the driver's door dent. 5)The brake rotors were not in perfect or even acceptable working order. The car was shook when the brakes were applied. 6)If the car was sold hours after my visit, why was it still listed for sale weeks later? This car's condition was severely misrepresented and in my opinion you were not upfront and honest with me. Also, your reply to my dealer review was also not upfront and honest.

The vehicle was sold that day and delivered on 4/24. It takes processing time for the vehicle to come off the various websites it goes to. We are going to agree to disagree. The vehicle was in 100% working order and I can provide DealerRater any information necessary to refute these baseless claims regarding the vehicle's safety and drive-ability condition. DealerRater, these allegations are not truthful and need to be stricken from our record.

We will have to agree to disagree. The vehicle condition was said to be a non-smoker in newer new condition, when in fact it was a smoker and needed approximately $2,000 in repairs to bring it up to that level. The main reason I made the trip to Gilboy Ford was that they had a good overall rating on the DealerRater website. After having this bad experience in misrepresentation, I feel that others should know my experience and be able to make an informed decision concerning this dealership. I did end up buying a vehicle from a different dealer in New York, and had a very good experience. DealerRater, my statements are truthful and my 2 family members that traveled with me, and drove with me in the car, are my witnesses. The public needs to have a forum for reviews for dealers both positive and negative. Thank you for your time. If you have any concerns about my statements, please contact me.
