I am writing this review to share my experience with Gilchrist Chevrolet and Triple Crown Ford regarding my attempted purchase of a 2022 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon. Friday: I contacted Gilchrist Gilchrist Chevrolet and Triple Crown Ford regarding my attempted purchase of a 2022 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon. Friday: I contacted Gilchrist Chevrolet and spoke with Landon. I was told that the Jeep was located at Triple Crown Ford in Stephenville. Saturday: I spoke directly with Daniel Peña, Sales Manager at Triple Crown Ford. I was told that if I paid a $500 deposit, the vehicle would be placed on hold and transported to Houston. Based on that representation, I went to the dealership Saturday evening and paid the $500 deposit in person. Monday: I was fully prepared to complete the purchase. I had already obtained a cashier’s check from my bank for the full purchase price of the vehicle because I was ready to finalize the transaction. Instead, when I contacted Daniel Peña on Monday, I was told that the Jeep had supposedly been sold at auction and was no longer available. I also spoke with Chris McKinney, General Manager, who gave me the same explanation. The issue is that I later found the exact same vehicle still advertised for sale, with the same Stock #SP00963 and the same VIN 1C4HJXFN4NW131013. It was being advertised at approximately $34,054, even though the original advertised price was approximately $28,054, with a $1,000 Labor Day discount bringing it to approximately $27,054. This raises a very serious question: If the vehicle had actually been sold at auction and was no longer available, why was the exact same vehicle, with the same VIN and stock number, still being advertised for sale? For my wife and me, this was extremely disrespectful and a complete waste of our time. We made arrangements, paid a deposit, and I even obtained a cashier’s check for the full amount because we were ready to purchase the vehicle. I ultimately received my $500 deposit back, which I appreciate. However, a refund does not erase the time we lost, the inconvenience we experienced, or the lack of clarity and transparency surrounding this transaction. In my opinion, both Daniel Peña and Chris McKinney failed to provide a clear and satisfactory explanation for what happened. As dealership representatives, they had a responsibility to provide accurate information regarding the vehicle and the status of a customer’s purchase. Instead, we received an explanation that appears inconsistent with the vehicle continuing to be advertised for sale. What makes this experience especially frustrating is that I was not just casually shopping. I was ready to buy the vehicle in full. I had the bank check in hand and was prepared to complete the transaction. Instead, I was confronted with the explanation that the vehicle had been sold at auction, only to later find the exact same Jeep still being advertised. This was not simply a failed car purchase. It was a serious breakdown of trust. My wife and I acted in good faith and expected the same honesty and professionalism in return. Unfortunately, that is not what we experienced. I cannot recommend Gilchrist Chevrolet or Triple Crown Ford based on this experience. Customers deserve honesty, accountability, transparency, and respect—especially when they are ready to spend tens of thousands of dollars on a vehicle. More
Arlyne and Eric at the dealership were both outstanding to work with. Arlyne did an excellent job following up with me and helping me find the exact truck I was looking for. She stayed consistent, answered to work with. Arlyne did an excellent job following up with me and helping me find the exact truck I was looking for. She stayed consistent, answered my questions, and made sure everything kept moving smoothly. Eric in finance was just as great. He worked hard to get me approved and structured a deal that no other dealership was able to offer. They gave me a strong trade-in value and my total amount financed ended up being about $10,000 less than what other dealerships were quoting me. Overall, the whole experience was smooth, professional, and worth the drive. I really appreciate the effort they both put in to make the deal happen. Highly recommend asking for Arlyne and Eric if you’re shopping for a vehicle. More
