Avoid The Service Department - Unresolved Issues and Poor Communication. I normally do not write reviews, but my experience with Volvo Cars Glen Cove has been beyond frustrating and needs to be shared. My Communication. I normally do not write reviews, but my experience with Volvo Cars Glen Cove has been beyond frustrating and needs to be shared. My vehicle is a 2023 XC60 with just 12,000 miles on it. I have been dealing with an oil-related issue that still has not been resolved despite the multiple visits and months of waiting. The service department has been unresponsive. Michael Davis and Service Manager Steve rarely return my calls nor my text messages, and when I do manage to speak with someone, I’m either given vague updates or told the issues have been fixed- only for the problem to resurface. Neither Michael Davis or Service Manager Steve seem to have the customer service skills nor the compassion to be in a client facing position. At this point, my vehicle has been out of service for weeks at a time with no real resolution. We left Lexus and chose Volvo for the safety and reliability, and expected a premium experience. Instead, I have been left without a functioning vehicle, without communication, and without confidence that Volvo Cars Glen Cove can, or even wants to, fix the issue. If you’re considering service here, think twice. Volvo Cars Glen Cove’s service department has made my ownership experience stressful and deeply disappointing. I purchased my XC60 in February 2023 from Glen Cove Volvo. I took it back in August 2023 because the dash indicated the engine oil level was low. The vehicle was returned September to for a headlight malfunction; they upgraded the software. October 2023 I took the car for vibration coming from the front of the vehicle. The next service for an issue was on November 15, 2024 for the low oil light indicator. Nov 2024 there was also an issue where the center display screen was blank and the camera was malfunctioning most of the time. February 2025 the low engine oil indicator came on twice in the week. Service did an oil consumption test and advised I drive for 1000 miles and return to complete the testing. I informed them that the screen blackout was recurring. They did another software upgrade. Service kept the vehicle for over 2 weeks on that visit to resolve the issue. On April 17 I took it back for the second part of the oil consumption testing, where they removed ECCM, replaced the check valve in the engine block, and replaced the check valve at the turbo inlet. They also replaced the oil trap and spark plug. The camera was not working and service kept it for 2 weeks again. They found the module was sending a corrupted signal to the central electronic module. I picked up the vehicle on a Friday and the engine light came back on. I took it back on Monday, May 5 for the engine light which they resolved after a few hours of waiting. When I left the service bay, the light came back on so I turned the vehicle around and took it back to Volvo and it's been sitting with them ever since. I would strongly caution others before trusting Volvo Cars Glen Cove with your vehicle. More
Dennis was extremely helpful in the purchase of our new 2025 Volvo XC60. It was our first SUV. They had a great selection, and pricing was unmatched! I recently made an appointment to bring my 2021 XC90 in for its 10k miles/ I year factory service. Jocelyn was so pleasant and cordial in setting up the appointment working around my calendar, it almost se for its 10k miles/ I year factory service. Jocelyn was so pleasant and cordial in setting up the appointment working around my calendar, it almost seemed like I was making social arrangements with a friend. I then had to change the appointment due to a conflict and again, she could not have been nicer. As much as some folks say getting a convenient appointment at their dealer is like pulling teeth, certainly not my experience at this dealership. They could not have been more accommodating. I had requested a specific technician be assigned to my car, Nino Gambino, as I have had long term experience with him working on my cars. I have always found him extremely thorough and a great diagnostician who is a true professional, and something unfortunately not so common nowadays, he sincerely takes real pride in his work. . When I got there Bob Gassler checked me in, explained that they were backed up on scheduling and instead of waiting for the work to be done they volunteered to give me a new car loaner and that the car would be finished later that day or the following. This was because Mr. Gambino was in the midst of a major repair that had become far more extensive than anticipated and that had to be completed before mine could be started. This was understandable as I had specifically requested him and did not wish my car assigned to another technician. All work was completed perfectly, and I could not be more pleased with the way I was treated. Unlike many businesses I truly believe that they did value my time and made sure I was not spending excessive time waiting that could be avoided. I thank these people for being so considerate and as always Nino Gambino for putting his heart into his work and taking care of my car like it was his own. For all of these reasons I commend these people and recommend them highly. More
I recently had reason to bring my near new Volvo XC90 into Glen Cove Volvo as the check engine light went on, pretty unusual for a car with 5k miles on it. They had given me an appointment fairly quickly into Glen Cove Volvo as the check engine light went on, pretty unusual for a car with 5k miles on it. They had given me an appointment fairly quickly and the car was assigned to Nino Gambino, as I had requested based on my prior confidence in his work on my other cars.. He diagnosed the problem as a defective part that was involved in pressure in the fuel tank, a part that was not in stock, and rarely went bad. They checked and it was not available at any local dealer or warehouse that they could readily obtain. They had to special order it. They were not exactly sure how long that might take and if it available elsewhere in the country or if it had to be sent in from overseas. Mr. Gambino was able however to alleviate my biggest concerns, that driving it would not hurt anything, that it was covered under warranty and that it would not cause any breakdown. I trust his professional judgement implicitly. I have found this dealership to be far different then many, in part because the Service Manager, Steve, is personally involved with the operation of his department. This is far different from others where the .Service Managers seem to avoid consumer interaction if at all possible; he actually seems to relish on being of assistance and truly seems to care about their customers. This is refreshing in today's business world. I was quite pleased when I got a call two days later that the part arrived and that they could squeeze me into Nino's schedule the following day if I so desired. As the week before a holiday, when many shops are jammed with people looking to get service done before family trips, I found this courtesy a bit impressive and I realize this is due to both Mr Gambino and Steve and for that I am very appreciative. I was able to get the work done quickly, relax in the showroom and be on my way, as always having confidence in the work of Nino. The check engine light went off immediately and has not returned, proving his diagnosis as accurate., as always. My thanks and kudos to the two professionals for the job well done and the courtesy they extended me. Nothing could have been better. More
I had the best experience at Glen Cove Volvo! Somehow my credit card got stuck inside the console of my car. Jocelyn at the service desk was so polite and professional! She got me in touch with Tommy who al credit card got stuck inside the console of my car. Jocelyn at the service desk was so polite and professional! She got me in touch with Tommy who also works on the service desk. He was so very nice and also very professional. Within minutes, he was able to retrieve my card for me! All with no fuss and a smile. Tommy and Jocelyn are a total pleasure to deal with in the service department. What a great experience. Absolutely shocking! Took my S90 in for a NYS inspection, and it cost me $700 in tires, that I don’t think I needed. Work was done on my car WITHOUT MY KNOWLEDGE OR PERMISSION. A violation of N inspection, and it cost me $700 in tires, that I don’t think I needed. Work was done on my car WITHOUT MY KNOWLEDGE OR PERMISSION. A violation of NYS laws. They passed my car BEFORE the work was done too. Another violation. Sent me out on the road even though they knew the car was unsafe. [I did not]. Took 2 weeks to correct the issues. Stay away! More
Anyone that buys from this dealership would be a fool. I leased an 2021 S90 and have 1150 miles. I purchased a tire and rim insurance policy. This dealership has had my car since March 1 to replace the rim leased an 2021 S90 and have 1150 miles. I purchased a tire and rim insurance policy. This dealership has had my car since March 1 to replace the rim and tire. I offered to pay for the tire and rim in an effort to get the car back. Jason the service person in charge sent me a voicemail total contrary to his and my conversation. He hung up on me rather than act in a professional manner. I thought maybe I was nitpicking on my previous visit when I noticed some employees and customers in the service area without masks. I felt I couldn’t complete the manufacturer survey without mentionIng when I noticed some employees and customers in the service area without masks. I felt I couldn’t complete the manufacturer survey without mentionIng this, so I declined the survey altogether and sent an e-mail to the service manager about their COVID practices. No response. Today, I picked up my car after my latest service and noticed that while masks are worn (although I later did see one staffer with mask down greet another staffer less than a foot apart), there are no plexiglas shields at the counter and all counter slots are open so that customers stand three feet apart and less than two feet from the service advisor. There is no mention at all of car interior sanitizing, so when I get home, I fill the car with a few bursts of Lysol and keep the windows closed for a few hours. I also wiped down the steering wheel and a lot of black stuff came off, so this signals to me that things like wheels and handles may not be wiped at all before the customer retrieves the car. About a year before COVID struck, I was at this dealership and noticed the entire row of service advisors coughing and sniffling. A couple days later, I had severe flu symptoms and it took me several weeks to fully recover. All in all, the COVID practices could be much stronger here, especially since the dealership is located in an area with one of our county’s highest infection rates. More
