I wouldn't recommend the service department of this dealership to even my worst enemy. I brought my Sonata in for a leak in my valve cover gasket hoping to see if it met the qualifications to satisfy a dealership to even my worst enemy. I brought my Sonata in for a leak in my valve cover gasket hoping to see if it met the qualifications to satisfy a warranty that supposedly would've replaced my car's engine free of charge. The service department had me on a fishing pole for a week, dangling new problems and the promise of an engine warranty over my head. It was also quite a process trying to communicate with the department itself. While they could directly contact me, I had to go through the call center every time I wanted to reach them. At one point in the process, I actually approved service only to be called back and informed that there were more issues that needed to be resolved first. My quote went up to $1,750 and soon after it was suspiciously dropped to around $1,300. A lower cost doesn't offend me, I love saving money, but the department was clearly overcharging me to begin with. When I told them my mechanic would do the same service for less, they matched that price immediately and the service associate who told me they would match that price so effortlessly wasn't even the one helping me throughout the entire process. He didn't even have to consult the service manager or my associate before telling me this. This proves to me that I was likely overpaying already. By the end of my experience, I was told that a cylinder had low compression and that the entire engine would need to replaced rather than servicing the valve cover gasket as originally intended. When I eventually took my car back from the dealership service department and brought my car to my regular mechanic, they said my compression was nearly perfect in each of my cylinders. They were able to replace my valve cover gasket for around $650. More
On Saturday 4/26 I went to the dealership to get an oil change, Josh from service took care of me and he was very good. He informed me that the oil change mileage was set wrong at the factory and reset that so that I get on a 7500 mile oil change schedule and got the Tucson into service to apply a firmware recall. He said it would take 2 hours and I was out of the dealership in less than 2 hours. More
