Gresham Toyota responded

We would like to clarify a few things… Brittany came to us on Thursday, June 30th after being told by another mechanic that she had a bad head gasket on her IQ. Being concerned about the costs associated with the repair she brought it to us to verify/repair. The diagnosing Technician ran a mobile repair service and didn’t do that kind of work. After diagnosing the car we discovered it did not need a $2000.00 head gasket repair but a group of small repairs totaling $600.00 to fix her concerns. She approved and we expected parts to arrive on Saturday. When Saturday came we discovered that the parts came in wrong, and we would have to reorder them. At this point, her Service Advisor, Rob Ritchie offered her a loaner car - at no cost to her. She was very concerned about how big the Prius we offered her was and demanded that he find a smaller car. After many calls to local rental agencies, Rob found a Yaris but it had to be repaired before it could be rented. Rob went to Enterprise, picked up the car, brought it back and repaired it so they could rent it to Brittany. Rob has been in contact with her every day trying to keep her updated on the status, but she is extremely unhappy with how long it took for the parts to arrive from California. We did try to locate the part locally aftermarket and through other dealers but none were available. Our Service Manager, Grant Lord reached out to Brittany on Wednesday, July 6th to discuss her vehicle and the concerns she has. She felt that we had lied to her about the parts being wrong and couldn’t understand why they should take so long to get. She continued to state “how can I trust you people, obviously you have already lied to me”. They talked about the fact that we had found the original diagnosis to be incorrect and that we were, in fact, saving her hundreds of dollars by only fixing what actually needed to be done. They also discussed that while we couldn’t foresee the parts problem, we immediately offered to put her in a loaner vehicle that we were paying for. Despite this she still feels “betrayed”. Grant committed to calling her the next morning after are parts had been checked in to let her know if they had arrived. She had called both Grant and Rob multiple times before 10:00 a.m. demanding a status. Parts arrived around 12:00 and the car was completed around 2:30. She was immediately called and she picked the car up within the hour. We even discounted her bill per an agreement Rob had made with her on Saturday. *** Brittany, we are very sorry for the parts delay, unfortunately that was beyond our control. Our Service staff did their very best to make this experience as convenient as possible but unfortunately it doesn’t sound as though we succeeded.
