Buying a car isn't a day at the park We were pleased with the selection of vehicles. Found one we really loved. They are a bit inflexible on their pricing. I was originally told that this was because they're a high volume dealer; they price competitively and don't negotiate much. I have since seen several vehicles drop in price by a thousand or more dollars. So I'm not sure what's going on there. Then there was the very hard sell on the extended warranty at closing. It kept up after I said I wasn't interested in any of the nearly $4,000 in extras they were offering. Finally, my wife was rather disappointed in the salesman at one point. A few days after purchase we discovered something wasn't working on the vehicle. She called the salesman thinking that 1) he'd like to know that something had been missed in their "thorough" inspection and 2) he might help her with getting faster service. He just told her to call service and didn't even offer to transfer the call. Later, we also discovered the floor mats had not been installed. I was (almost) certain I had seen them in the back of the vehicle when we looked at it. But, we had looked at several vehicles that day and I may have been mistaken. The salesman told us that that vehicle had not come in with floor mats. Which is odd as they were clearly called out on the window sticker and the vehicle was reported to be a one owner, corporately owned vehicle. I interpreted that to mean off-lease. And leasing companies are very particular about getting their cars back the way they leased them out. The salesman offered us some of their promotional all-weather floor mats at no charge. We opted for the original carpeted mats which he arranged for us to get at their cost. And he still threw in the promotional mats. Not bad. Now all this seems rather negative and yet I've given a 4 star rating and noted that I would recommend this dealership. For the most part, this experience was not significantly different than I have had with other dealers - and better than several. Griffin is in the business of selling cars to make money. They have a very nice lot with lots of options. The service area is spacious and nice. I've dealt with the parts guys before and they're really nice. We got a car that we really like and, while it wasn't a steal, it was a fair price. Recommending a dealer is like recommending a dentist. You know there's going to be a painful part, but in the end you want to be satisfied. We are. More
