I purchased a 2020 Explorer, which was touted and sold as a "Ford Blue Advantage, Gold Certified" vehicle. The Carfax specifically stated at the top of their document "No accidents or damage reported to CARF a "Ford Blue Advantage, Gold Certified" vehicle. The Carfax specifically stated at the top of their document "No accidents or damage reported to CARFAX." On the Gold Certificate Description under Vehicle History Report, Ford states "You will definitely know your vehicle's history when you purchase a Ford Blue Advantage used vehicle." WRONG!! BUYER BEWARE! Here's why: While Carfax reported no accidents, that has nothing to do with a car's history. If the repairs or maintenance work is not reported to Carfax, they have no information about its history. FURTHERMORE, however, in this case, after I purchased the vehicle under this pretense, I signed up for FordPASS, to veiw information about the vehicles past records and found that the car had been in a major crash just 2 months prior to purchase date. Furthermore, when I contacted the repair shop, I was told that they had to remove both the engine and transmission to affect the repairs. When I found out about this, I was within the "Guaranteed Return for Cash Back" offered by Ford...under 1000 miles and less than 14 days. When I informed Griffin Ford of what I had learned of the accident and wanted to return the vehicle, they THEN told me that Griffin 'doesn't opt-in to that program EVEN THOUGH IT WAS SPECIFICALLY WRITTEN ON THE VEHICLE DESCRIPTION that I was supposed to be covered. Is this Ford's fault? Is it Griffin's fault? You decide. Either way, Ford KNEW this vehicle had a major repair because I found it on their operated FordPASS site!! So, you cannot rely on Carfax reports, nor the dealer to tell you the actual facts about any used vehicle you but, Gold Certified, or not. Dealing with sales after this incident was just as distasteful as the feeling of buying a crashed car, and paying too much for it, even though I would never have bought it if I knew this beforehand. Finally, although this vehicle was on the lot for several months before I bought it, there was a recall that was not completed on the car and exhaust would fill the cabin upon starting it. Griffin finally repaired it AFTER I bought it due to my complaint about not being able to drive the car due to breathing exhaust. It was in the shop for 3 days within 2 weeks of purchase to get this done when it should have been done while on the lot, not at my inconvenience. More
