I intended to purchase a 2024 Toyota RAV4 XLE and believed I had a finalized deal with Sterling McCall Toyota. I was even told that the dealership was “not making any money” because I was paying cash—an explanation that now feels intentionally misleading. Anthony personally called to confirm that the vehicle would be ready for pickup at 10:00 AM. Based on that confirmation, I obtained a cashier’s check for the full amount and returned to the dealership expecting to complete the transaction. Instead, I was met by Mauricio, who informed me that they did not have a license plate for the vehicle. He then consulted Thai Pham, who claimed to be a sales manager and suggested that I leave my cashier’s check and return the next day. At that point, I had already noticed several inconsistencies and questionable statements, which I regret ignoring. In hindsight, it’s clear that when a business is dishonest about small things, it cannot be trusted with big ones. I then spoke directly with Thai Pham, who assured me that I could take the car since I was paying in full. He also told me that they were not losing money on this deal. Now, why would a dealership sell a car and lose money? Another lie! I got into the vehicle, only to have Anthony run after me saying he could get a temporary plate in 10 minutes. After waiting 20 minutes, I was asked to wait another 10 minutes. Shortly after, Kennedy joined Anthony and told me they were suddenly unable to issue a plate because they had already been to the DMV three times that day—yet another excuse that directly contradicted earlier statements. This pattern of delays, conflicting information, and pressure to leave my cashier’s check behind made the situation unacceptable. It became clear that these were deliberate stalling tactics rather than honest mistakes. What stood out most was not just poor communication, but a pattern of dishonesty, particularly from management. I ultimately walked away from the deal because I could no longer trust the dealership. I strongly caution others to think twice before doing business with Sterling McCall Toyota. My experience suggests a lack of transparency, professionalism, and integrity.
