Customer service at Grubbs needs serious work. I purchased a used car for my daughter in October. In November, I received a $6.00 check from Grubbs, with no explanation as to what the check was for purchased a used car for my daughter in October. In November, I received a $6.00 check from Grubbs, with no explanation as to what the check was for. I deposited the check about 30 days after receiving. Last week I received a letter from my bank that they were subtracting the $6.00 from my account as it was returned to my bank as unpaid. Then, my bank charged me $12.00 for a returned check fee. The reason my bank gave me for the returned check was simply “Return to Maker; please contact the person who gave you the check for more information”. I called the dealership and spoke to a lady in finance, knowing that finance was not the correct department, but options on the phone system were limited. I gave her the information above. She was helpful, but told me that she was not the correct person and transferred me to another person in Accounting. That phone rang, went to voice mail, and then stated that “MailBox was full” and I was then disconnected. I then attempted to call back, ask for the previous woman who directed me to accounting, to see if she could assist me with another person since the voice mail was full. However, when the receptionist transferred me, I got voice mail, left a message, and 4 hours later, I still had not received a call back. At that point, I had spent well over a hour of my time trying to get information as to why Grubbs sent me a $6 check, then chose not to pay/honor the check when I deposited it, and my bank charging me a $12 returned check fee. I then decided to contact the GM of the dealership, Michael Williams, asking him to direct me to the right person so I could work through the issue, as well as asking him to call me back so I could relay my frustration with the dealership. I instead got a short email from the GM stating "I got your email I sent it to my accounting department." No apology for my trouble, my frustration, or for my wasted time. After 2 more emails to the GM in as many days, I finally got a reply telling me the following: "I have had reimbursement check cut and should be in the mail today. As far as the check we changed accounts and mistakenly sent some checks out on the old account. I apologize for the inconvenience and the issue was fixed already." Bottom line is my issue is small, and financially insignificant. But, I did not think that it was right for me to pay a return check fee from my bank for a refund check that Grubbs sent to me. I already paid them for the vehicle I bought, and 2 months later it is costing me another $12 and hours of my time. More
