I started my new car attitude geared towards a Hybrid or PHEV that would also meet the WA State sales tax exemption along with the Federal tax credit. After the Dodge Pacifica appeared too big I settled on PHEV that would also meet the WA State sales tax exemption along with the Federal tax credit. After the Dodge Pacifica appeared too big I settled on a Toyota Rav4 Prime. It checked both boxes with one exception. This vehicle was not sold in WA State by Toyota because Toyota was using available vehicles to assist their standing in CA and OR. Yup! Thanks allot Toyota. So I contacted a Hillsboro, Oregon Toyota dealership, negotiated on a Vehicle with a sticker price of $44,406 bucks. It was under the $45,000 needed for the sales tax exemption. WHY DID I NOT BUY THIS CAR? Because the dealer was requiring that I accept the add on items that under a separate non-Toyota dealership agreement he would make more money on and that drove the price up to over $48K. Therefore that unethical greed drove the price outside of the sales tax exemption of 10%+ while attempting to force on me some extras I considered crap towards my long term ownership objectives. The over charging of these PHEVs right now isn't for me or my more than local highway focused use. Since I decided to wait for the competition in about two years to not only drive prices down but to provide better and more alternative fuel vehicles I looked at conventional rides offering decent fuel mileage. Haselwood Volkswagen provided that need with a 2021 VW Tiguan to fit in my garage. Marshea Middleton was the perfect salesperson assisting my wife and myself in our decision to purchase this ride over all the other choices we had looked at to replace our sold 2010 Honda CR-V. Not pressuring us for hours while we analyzed a whole bunch of issues, even before price, was the most courteous and professional service anyone could expect. More
