I bought a used car from here yesterday. They were real clear it was as is. They gave me a checklist of the safety features that said that those, at least, were in working order, including the windshield clear it was as is. They gave me a checklist of the safety features that said that those, at least, were in working order, including the windshield wipers.. They were in working order on the lot. Within an hour of use though, the windshield wipers stopped working. Took a look at the wiper assembly and it was pretty clear that there was very recent work done on them. I understand "as is" but the timing makes me think THEY KNEW about the problem and sold me the car anyway, without any warning. Glad I did not get any of their service plan. I bet they are good with the new cars, and "certified pre-owned" but definately caveat emptor with these people on the used cars. Edit: The next day I took a closer look at the wiper motor and tranmission. Turns out the push arm from the wiper motor was attached to the rest of the wiper linkage with 2 black zip ties. When I called Heartland Toyota they said "We sold you the car, but we didn't do the safety inspection. That was another dealership" I said "You are all Westhills Autoplex, you are all Heartland Something." The fellow on the phone disagreed. He said "We are all different dealerships, with different management" I countered with "You all have the same owners and upper management, they set the policy and corporate culture for everybody below them." This is a super convienient way to pass the buck and not really hold anybody accountable. My salesman was Caleb Gardner. More
