The first step is to explain how & why my latest experience happened. 1. How come my internet inquiry [to sell my car to you directly] earlier that morning, to your website, sent me to Kelly Blue Book to determine the trade-in value? It was clearly implied from the messaging and process on your website that the KBB trade-in value offered was to be the amount that would be offered to me when I arrived, if the car appeared as I had stated it was. I had previously asked your internet contact [V. Jarrett]; and she was confident that your offer would meet or possibly exceed the KBB trade-in value. In conclusion, it was clear that I was led to believe that I would be offered this amount, or better, before I arrived. I had already refused offers from other dealers and Carvana, that hovered about $23,000. 2. Why was your offer, at around $19,500 approximately $4,000 lower than the KBB trade-in value of my car [obtained about 3 hours before this meeting]? I informed your staff members, attending to me, of this difference, and asked to see the "decision-maker" [whom they said was too busy to meet with me]; and they just attempted to justify the huge difference. I had already said twice [30 and 15 minutes] earlier that I wanted to speak directly to whomever would be deciding the amount of the offer. But I was repeatedly told that this person was unavailable, as they continued to try to justify the huge difference. [I failed to take the paper copy of the offer with me, as I was so offended by this low-ball offer, I just walked out.] 3. And this deceitful experience was preceded by my purchase experience on/after March 27; in which the sales woman made two serious incorrect statements to me about the car [She later admitted that she just "assumed [made them up]" without checking the answers to be sure; that I later discovered in my own research that were false. [Please read that review and the subsequent multiple emails with managers regarding this.] If you want to work towards a solution, it will begin with answering these questions/issues. Apologies do not make things right, unless definitive actions accompany them that eliminate the source of my discontent, and honor what was clearly implied form the multiple interactions I had with your staff and website.

Since sending the above reply to Heartland Toyota, I have had NO reply, whatsoever. No reply here, no email, or phone call/text. This morning, I visited their website again, entered all the details of my car, and was offered a trade-in of $22,485, and possibly up to $24,325. Yet, in person at the dealership on August 19, I was offered about $19,500. So, I have just set up another appointment for another evaluation and offer on Sept 1 with Heartland Toyota. If Heartland offers me $23,000+, I will accept the offer and edit this review to reflect that their management decided to "do the right thing" for a "valued" customer [as we all are called by them]. Footnote: If Heartland's offer is below $22,965, I will refuse it and drive to my appointment to be paid the same amount from Carvana. And this review will go unedited. As a former investigator/mediator for consumer complaints with the Maine State Attorney General, I have had many first hand experiences with shady practices by auto dealers.
