I was told that due to GM policy the replacement of a $15 bushing would require the entire shift cable assembly from the steering column to the transmission to be replaced costing $900. Replacing the bush bushing would require the entire shift cable assembly from the steering column to the transmission to be replaced costing $900. Replacing the bushing - which is easily accessible - is a 10-minute job I would have done myself if I was physically able to do so. Overcharging is bad policy! And it does not build customer loyalty. Car owners complain that repairs a the dealership are too expensive and avoid taking their vehicles in as a result. This does not help. I felt bad for Jon Key, the service center rep. His hands were tied, but I appreciated his efforts. More
