Michaels was professional -But dealership let me down. We went to Hendrick Dodge with a $10000 deposit to purchase a 2014 Mazda CX5. The advertised price was $15,890, So we wanted to finance 5,890 as we We went to Hendrick Dodge with a $10000 deposit to purchase a 2014 Mazda CX5. The advertised price was $15,890, So we wanted to finance 5,890 as we set our limit at financing no more than $6,000. We looked at the car and I took it out for a test drive. I liked it and told the salesman that we wanted to buy. They did some paperwork and "in-office" sales staff discussions where we were excluded. Then they came back to me with some paperwork and wanted me to go to finance to finish out. The price they handed me was $16,889. Which was $1000 higher than advertised and out of our budget range. I told them I would have to pass on the deal and was about to walk. Then they said -well what if we could discount it to get the price back under the original $15,890 and you get the ad-on features free. I still wanted to walk because my trust for them had dropped to ZERO. But I didn't listen to my better half and said OK. After too much waiting time and pushing to get paperwork signed because they were trying to close the store -they handed me my paperwork and keys and sent me on my way. The next day -I was reviewing the paperwork and found where they charged me $16.699 for the car -which was not what we had agreed on. And there was a $290 charge for oil changes when I told them very clearly that I didn't want to pay for oil changes through them. Their service department has more bad reviews than I can even count or read in one day. I would never trust them to change my oil. But I told them clearly before we agreed on anything and when they kept trying to sell me this extra or that extra and I VERY CLEARLY told them that I didn't want to pay for anything other than the advertised price of the car. So how did the car price end up at $16,699 with $250 for oil changes that I didn't want? VERY VERY shady dealership. Be forewarned. If you must buy a car from them -take a lawyer with you to make sure you are not getting cheated -because they obviously will do so with every chance they can get. The original unwanted $1000 features were Nitrogen in the tires (totally unnecessary) -which is probably to prevent corrosion to the wheel within the tire from condensation -from standard air. Newer wheels are powder coated everywhere. This powder coating thoroughly protects your wheels from corrosion making Nitrogen unnecessary. Besides -where would you fill your tire with Nitrogen if it goes low? hmmmmm..... Food for thought! Another portion of the added charge was for non-factory floor mats which advertise the dealership with their name in big bold letters. So they want to charge you for advertising for them. The floor mats are very bulky and obnoxious. They probably buy them wholesale in bulk for $40 per set and charge you $250 for them. Third item is a re-programming of the GPS so that you can track where your kids (or whoever) are driving or how far they have gone. For people whose kids have grown and moved on -this is an absolutely unnecessary feature. And the fourth item is a piece of plastic laminate on the door edges to protect your car from dinging other people's doors. I don't know about most drivers -but my problem is not dinging other people's doors because I take care to not damage other people's property. The true problem is with others who could care less about dinging my doors. But this doesn't protect you from that. So it is another totally useless feature. So they say that these four items are worth an additional $1000 on your purchase price -plus any interest you might pay on that $1000 over the next 4-6 years. I say B.S. If you really want customers and want to advertise -give those items away for free instead of trying to jack your customers for every cent you can steal from them. Or at least do not put it on the car unless the customer requests it. And the reason for changing my rating is because there are too many shifty practices going on here -and likely the same with most dealerships. It is the reason why I vowed back in 1984 to NEVER buy another car from a dealership. I should have stuck to that vow. More
