I don't normally write reviews, but after my recent experience with Hendrick Lexus Charleston, I felt I should. My son's older Lexus, with only about 90,000 miles, started having an intermittent A/C experience with Hendrick Lexus Charleston, I felt I should. My son's older Lexus, with only about 90,000 miles, started having an intermittent A/C problem. Sometimes it would blow ice cold, and other times it would blow warm air. Since he had just finished college and we were planning to drive the car over 800 miles back to New Jersey, I wanted to make sure the problem was properly diagnosed before we hit the road. When I scheduled the appointment, I was very clear that the issue was intermittent. I also had no problem paying the $295 diagnostic fee because I assumed that meant the car would actually be diagnosed correctly. I dropped the car off almost two weeks before we were leaving, so there was plenty of time to figure it out. A few days later I got a call saying the problem was fixed. They told me the system was about half a pound low on refrigerant, they recharged it, and everything was working fine. The car then sat on their lot for about a week until I arrived in Charleston. When I picked it up, the A/C worked...for a little while. Then it started blowing warm air again. The exact same problem I brought it in for. I immediately took it back. The service department had already closed, but the ladies at the front desk were extremely nice and told me to leave it in front of the service bay and someone would contact me first thing the next morning. The next morning my service advisor called, and I explained the situation again. I also made it clear that I was driving back to New Jersey the following day, so I really needed someone to look at the car as soon as possible. Then...nothing. By lunchtime I still hadn't heard a word, so I called and left a voicemail asking for an update. Around 3:00 that afternoon I finally got a call back and was told the technician who originally worked on my car had called out sick, so no one had looked at it all day. Only after I followed up did another technician get assigned to it. About an hour later they called and said the actual problem was a bad A/C compressor and that they didn't have the part. They told me I could pick up the car and there would be no charge. Here's what really bothered me. I'm not upset because a compressor failed. Parts fail. I'm upset because I paid almost $300 for a diagnostic after specifically explaining that the problem was intermittent. Instead of actually diagnosing the issue, it feels like they did the quickest and easiest thing—added refrigerant because it was slightly low—and called it fixed without ever confirming that the intermittent problem was gone. The car was in their possession for over nine days. I wasn't rushing them. They had plenty of time to properly diagnose it. What was even more disappointing was what happened after I brought it back. Knowing I was leaving the next day for an 800-mile trip, I expected the situation to become a priority. Instead, no one even looked at the car until I called asking for an update. Being told hours later that the original technician was out sick just didn't feel like an acceptable explanation. If I hadn't called, I'm honestly not convinced I would have heard from anyone that day. This was never about the money. I would have gladly paid whatever it took to fix the car correctly the first time. That's why I brought it to a Lexus dealership. What I expected was a thorough diagnosis, clear communication, and a sense of urgency once it became obvious the original diagnosis was wrong. Unfortunately, that's not what happened. Before leaving, I spoke with the service manager. He was polite, apologized, and said he would remind his technicians to pay closer attention to customer concerns and technician notes. I appreciated the conversation, but there was never any real ownership of what happened or any meaningful attempt to make the situation right. I have to highlight Chylon, because he was nothing short of extraordinary. His knowledge, attentiveness, and calm presence created a sense of safety that carried me through every step. And we even had a moment of humor that I’ll never forget. When the internet refused to cooperate, he didn’t leave me to figure it out alone. He walked with me literally around the dealership trying to find reception. We must have passed by my soon to be car three times before we finally stood beside it and the signal suddenly worked. I sent the documents right there, and when I finally sat inside, it was pure shock and awe. It felt orchestrated in a way only God can arrange, and the tangible results were placed right into my hands. Karen was just as wonderful. Her patience and clarity during the setup made everything simple and stress‑free. She made sure I understood every feature and felt completely comfortable before driving off. From beginning to end, the service was breathtaking, friendly, professional, and filled with genuine care. This was a totally different kind of car buying experience, one marked by peace, excellence, and divine timing.
