Lied to, given cold shoulder and not returning deposit I and my friend were looking for a Honda Civic 2017 LX. Scheduled a test drive. The sales representative was Ren, and he seemed okay when we shook hands the first time we met. When we sat in the car for a test drive, I asked what was the difference between the 2016 and 2017 sedan. He said "I don't know...may be the recalls". Seriously? If I was selling something I would be more prepared than him. The guy did not show much interest in explaining the features, just navigated us back to the showroom. I already had an online quote that they claimed they would match, and they did. However, I wanted to negotiate, but we could not agree upon. Then walks in the sales manager Kevin Ward. He was pleasant to talk to, and also agreed to consider my deal if I finance through Honda. I said okay, and we left.Now what happened next is where I felt I was played with. Ren calls me next evening, and says "You have been approved for the loan at 0.9% and we can go ahead with the deal. I was happy, and went to see them next day. When I walked in, Ren did not greet us. He saw us coming in, and yet pretended like he didn't see us.We sat down in front of him , being greeted by his lukewarm "Hi". Then we asked him again, that the deal was xxx for 0.9% APR and he said yes. He then took our credit card and charged a deposit of $500. I don't know what happened next, Kevin walks in and says we could not get your loan approved for the interest, and I am sorry. Ren was thinking of a different deal when he called you. This is where knew I would not buy car from these people. This was one of their dirty sales tactics and frankly a fraud! How many responsibilities does this Ren have as a car salesman to make a mistake? Or I guess he is incompetent and better work on that first. I knew I was played and I walked out of there. They agreed to refund the deposit. It has been 2 weeks, and they haven't refunded the deposit yet. I went and talked personally, and the same " we will do it" song was sung. I had heard good things about Herb Chambers but being lied to is beyond the ethics of the business or even tactics. More

Service like usual I have come for service here at least 30 times over many years and the result is always the same....excellent. I took used car in for evaluation to see if there were any major repairs needed. I was quoted an expected wait time of 90 minutes. The whole process ended up taking over 3 and a half hours. Specifically once the inspection was done and I had paid and everything seemed all set, it took the dealership 30 minutes to get my car out of the garage and pulled out front for me to leave. Everyone was nice and apologetic but the service was much slower than expected / quoted. More

PROS: If price is all you care about when buying a used car, I do think Herb Chambers has a good SMART pricing system that is objectively a good deal. I did significant research before purchasing the car and the price was the best I could find for the model and the miles. I tried to negotiate the SMART price and didn't get very far so if you don't like negotiating, the SMART price is a good way to go. CONS: Service is abysmal. I spent well over 5 hours in the dealership just trying to pay for and finalize documents for the car. Most could have been done online. I didn't even finance my car, I paid entirely in cash. I would make appointments and they were always late, leaving me to sit in the waiting room until I stood and acted like I was leaving. Only then would someone come help me. Because the car needed work done, they had to it to the body shop to fix. On Tuesday I walked to the body shop with my salesperson and the manager of the shop said it would definitely be done on Friday. On Friday my salesperson calls me to say it will be ready on Monday. I asked why not Friday and he said "Friday was what we were shooting for." Nope, you and the shop manager said it would be done on Friday; it was not aspirational, it was promised. Monday rolls around, I get another call from my salesperson asking for my social security number. He had written it down in my folder a few days prior. There was no need to call me, he already had the information. Then he tells me that someone at the lot HIT my car, there was a big dent and they needed to send it back to the body shop for two to three days. Three days letter I message him to ask where my car is. He says he'll ask and follow up that morning. He doesn't get back to me. I call that afternoon to speak to the manager who calls the shop and tells me it will be ready at 5pm on Friday. So, five days from originally informing me of the dent, not three. And I had to do all the following up myself. I have now paid for the car 10 days ago and still don't have it AND they caused damage to it since I bought it without offering me any refund, discount, rebate on the damage, which I did not even see. I have already told people who are in the market for a CR-V that it's a great car but I will never use this dealership again. More
