We worked with Efren Madrigal in sales who is extremely knowledgeable,pleasant, and patient to work with. We test drove two different CRV's and Efren explained the vehicles features to us. I did quite a bit of pricing research prior to buying and was pretty clear of what price we needed to make a buying decision. Efren helped us in every step before and after we purchased the vehicle. An Initially Terrible Experience Made Good On Tuesday February 9, I visited Autosport and was interested in a 2014 pre-owned Accord (stock # H16-264A) for my daughter. I drove and very much li On Tuesday February 9, I visited Autosport and was interested in a 2014 pre-owned Accord (stock # H16-264A) for my daughter. I drove and very much liked the vehicle, and told this to my salesman, Victor Santos. I told Victor that my total budget was $20,000 to drive a vehicle off their lot, and that if they could sell this Accord to me for a total of $20,000 including all taxes and fees, I would bring my daughter back to drive it and, if she liked it, buy the vehicle. I asked him to check whether this was possible, and call to let me know. On Wednesday, I received a phone call from Ali Salazar, the Internet Sales Coordinator, asking if I'd be coming back in to buy the vehicle. I told Ali the same thing I told Victor a day earlier: that if they decide they could sell the car for $20,000 all-inclusive, I'd come back with my daughter. Ali checked with his General Manager, Eric Dimayuga. He said that Eric first asked if I could split a $500 difference and pay $20,250, but that he convinced Eric to sell the car for my $20,000 maximum budget. I was happy and told Ali, and later Victor, that I would be back with my daughter on Saturday. We visited and drove the vehicle on Saturday, and told Victor we were ready to buy the vehicle for the agreed upon price ... and then uncertainty and delays crept into the process. After having us stand around for 15 minutes, Nelson Neria come out to try and convince me to finance when I wanted to pay cash. When I needed to leave to take my son to an appointment, I asked Victor to send me the contract before the end of the day and I would give him a deposit on my credit card over the phone, then return Monday morning to pick up the car. Victor said no problem - that we had a deal, and he would call me by 5:30 PM, send me the contract and take the deposit. However, I received no call. I called Victor on his cell phone at 6:20 PM, and got no answer. I called him again around 8:30 PM and he answered. When I asked Victor why he didn't call me before he left, he said, "right after you left, someone came in and made a better offer for the car, and we sold it to that person. What do you expect?" I was speechless, and, needless to say, very unhappy at how this process played out. My daughter and I had only returned to the dealership on Saturday because we were told we had an agreed upon price – only to have the dealership question the agreement, then sell the vehicle to someone else soon after I had to leave for another appointment. At best, this was a terrible example of too many people being involved in the process, and not communicating with each other. At worst, one could view this as simply dishonorable. In either case, I was very unhappy, and expressed my feelings on this DealerRater site. However, the story does get much better from this point. On Monday, I received a message from Steven Lustig, VP of the Autosport Group and owner of Autosport Honda. We spoke, and after hearing my story and speaking to the 5 people I had been dealing with on the sales floor, Steven was apologetic, and acknowledged that there were too many people and too little communication in the sales process I experienced. Steven asked if Autosport could do the right thing to earn my business. He put me directly in touch with Victor Jinotti, the Manager of Pre-Owned Sales. The difference in the treatment we received was like the difference between night and day. Victor Jinotti is a professional, a gentleman, and just a nice, relaxed guy. Yes, he gave us an aggressive price on another 2014 CPO Accord - actually, one with fewer miles and more options - to try and atone for the initially shabby and disrespectful treatment of some of the others on the team. However, he just made the process easy; he respected our time and our intelligence, and he quickly earned our trust. He was a pleasure to work with. After the corrective action and respect demonstrated by Steven Lustig and Victor Jinotti, I would certainly consider buying another pre-owned or new vehicle from Autosport Honda. I would do so by making an appointment to work with Victor Jinotti, and I would be confident that I’d get a fair deal – but more importantly, that I’d be treated in a truthful and respectful manner. So we needed an affordable, reliable, high mpg care and we agreed that a used Civic was the best answer. After an internet contact, we were put in touch with Walter Malley who, within a matter of minutes, helped us narrow down the choice to 3 cars. We quickly decided on the car we bought. The paperwork, insurance, and check required 24 hours, but the car was waiting for us the next day. More paperwork, but that's the rules these days. We didn't pay too much, and we are confident that we got the right car for the job at the right price. A real pleasure. More
