I went to Honda City because a colleague of mine suggested that I go there. She had a great experience and hoped that I would too, especially since my car was totaled by Hurricane Sandy and she hope suggested that I go there. Unfortunately, I was unable to share her love for the place. When I got there, Alex R helped me out. He was good - a little aloft, but that was okay because I had immediately informed that I was only interested in test driving a car, getting as much information as I could, and that I had NO intentions of buying a car today. I asked to test drive the Fit (because of its price, I had to think about it) and the Civic (which is what was totaled). They didnt have any 2013 Civics, which I thought was odd because in Brooklyn they did, but it was okay. He gave me some information about the Fit, which was really good and it really helped. He got the 2012 Civic and I test drove it. He was great! He was absolutely fantastic, not only because of the test drive, but he answered all of my questions about the car, both 2012 and 2013, and it was a great experience. Then we started talking numbers. I asked specifically for a ball-park figure, within a couple of hundred dollars, so that I had some number to work with. He made a work sheet based on my job, my record, etc. He broke down the numbers for me and explained where different costs would come from, etc. The price he quoted was reasonable and I had actually decided that I would get the Civic...only, I did not want to get it that day. I did not verbalize this, but he convinced me to come back. A really GREAT guy! No pressure, nothing. I then asked Alex R for a copy of his worksheet, so that I could remember all the information he gave me. He said okay.... THEN, he brought over his manager, Herbie. Herbie is full of energy, which is great. But he was very very - did I mention, VERY? - aggressive. He asked me what he could do for me to get me to drive the car off the lot that day. I repeated to him that I was not going to buy that day, and I had already made that decision. But that Alex had already answered all of my questions and I would come back. But that was not enough for Herbie. He insisted that he "knew me" and that all I needed was to quote him a price and that he would see if he could make it happen. He mentioned something about $500 Flex money, so that he would take an additional $500 off the price of the car. He wrote a quote on the worksheet. It looked good, but I was not buying that day. I asked him how long that quote was good for, but he did not answer. He then crossed out that number and wrote another. But the whole time he said that he "knew me" and that I could go on the internet and do the research, but that I needed to buy THAT day in order to get the price he quoted. Herbie did not listen to me, as the customer, in that I was not going to buy that day, and that I only wanted to have ball park figures. He acted like he was doing be a HUGE favor by lowering the price $100 or so. I asked for Alex's business card, so that I could go back to him. But Herbie did not recognize that I did not want to buy. He kept on pressuring me to buy a car that I was not ready to buy. He basically acted like a bully. It was very very disturbing. I had come there to make a well-informed decision and to be able to get a replacement car for the one that I had lost. Instead, Herbie ruined the whole experience and made me feel that I should NEVER get a Honda again. So, perhaps I should thank him - I will now most likely be getting a Toyota. More

I'm not exactly sure why this dealer gets so many good ratings. I came in here after having visited Huntington Honda ("HH") and was not impressed at all. I dealt with Nathan, and though he was nice at f ratings. I came in here after having visited Huntington Honda ("HH") and was not impressed at all. I dealt with Nathan, and though he was nice at first, he ultimately did not provide a comfortable car buying experience. I told him that I was aware of all the features the car I was looking at (2012 Accord) and that I just wanted to talk about numbers. Even after hearing this, he continued on with his normal sales pitch and attempted to have me test drive a car. He didn't get that I was an educated buyer and knew what I was getting into. Let's just talk numbers, please! I get that car salesman have a job to do and going through the whole pitch is part of that job, but what do you do when you deal with a customer who knows what's going on?! It's called adaptation. Sadly, this did not occur. Nathan brought his manager to talk with me after I had told him the great quote I was getting from HH. I felt as if I was in trouble and that I had done something wrong. The whole time I was made to feel as though I was stupid and did not know what I was talking about. My time was completely wasted and I did not gain anything but a rough estimate on the car I wanted. Without further detail on the numbers, which is all I was looking for, I decided to go back to HH, where I ultimately got my car. I even dealt with a salesman at HH who used to work at Honda City ("HC"), and he said that the salesman there were trained to deal with customers who had just visited from HH. HC knows they can't beat HH so they resort to other tactics. I didn't stick around to find out what those tactics were. Skip HC. Go to HH. You'll be glad you did. More

In the month of January of this year, my mother and I had the opportunity in meeting one of your sales representatives named Debbie Edelson. She had helped my mother in such a way that I needed to write this letter to you and share her story. My mother's past sedan had unfortunately caught fire in a rare incident due to a tire blow out on an expressway that month. Although nobody was hurt, she was left car-less, and a bit upset about what to do with her current situation. To make matters worse, her car insurance was not able to pay for the damage ensued because she didn't have full coverage at the time. It was a bummer indeed. My mother was left confused and wasn't sure what outlet to take. Certainly buying a new car would be a big investment and the thought of leasing was all too new for her. We decided to visit Honda City to look at whichever model car would suit her needs. This is when we had the pleasure of meeting Debbie. Unsure of which kind of car to focus on, my mother could not decide whether to get another sedan or SUV. Debbie was more than beyond helpful and had shown her the new CRV that was in the showroom at that time. After seeing the car, my mother had fell in love with it. It was because of Debbie's genuine friendliness and comfort that placed my mother's trust in her. Something she really needed that day. We checked Nissan, Hyundai, and Toyota that afternoon. There was no question that between the trustworthiness of Debbie, and the quality of Honda that made my mother decision to lease her new CRV that day. Debbie was more than patient, helped us out with our financial decisions, and most of all put my mother's mind at rest. To top it all off, Debbie had taken the time much later that evening to show us the whole car from top to bottom. She showed and explained "every button" and described it's function in detail. This woman's patience and tone was simply amazing. And to think my mother had thought she would have to "hassle" with dealers that day. The day went perfect. I would not hesitate to buy another vehicle from Debbie. I think she is a huge asset to Honda and I will tell all my friends and family to contact her when purchasing a new vehicle. Thank you Debbie! The fine folks at HondaCityLI are truly amazing....I was picked up at the train station by Steve and all throughout the process I was made to feel relaxed, and more important i was felt to be in control. We chose to return to Honda City after being very satisfied with our previous purchase at this dealer five years ago. Our salesperson, Laurie Corke, helped us back then with the purchase of our 2006 satisfied with our previous purchase at this dealer five years ago. Our salesperson, Laurie Corke, helped us back then with the purchase of our 2006 Civic, and it was a pleasure to have her assist us again for our new CR-V! Her sales style is so comfortable for us, since she basically lets the automobile sell itself. When there is a question, she is very knowledgeable and honest with her answers. When it comes time for the numbers, she is just as professional, and we once again felt that she would do her best in order for us to be completely satisfied with all facets of our purchase. Upon delivery, Laurie was just as friendly, helpful and informative. Also working with us on our purchase was Manager Herubeys Santos. Herubeys was a true gentleman, and when we realized that we would have to postpone the delivery by a few days due to a personal matter, he was very understanding and gracious. That is one of the wonderful things about this dealership - we never felt any pressure or sense of obligation. They really do try to work with the customer to make the buying experience as pleasurable as possible. The same could be said for Finance Director Marie Iacono. We never felt pressured into buying any additional aftermarket items that we were not interested in. She was very honest and straightforward about the pricing, and her knowledge of all of these items and services was impressive. It was a pleasure to have Marie finalize our purchase. We would highly recommend Honda City, and we will be sure to return when the time comes to purchase our next new Honda. We have visited other dealers in the past, but always come back to Honda City! And be sure to ask for Laurie for your salesperson. Hopefully, you will be as happy with the team at Honda City as we are! More
By far the friendliest and least stressful transaction with a dealership. Alex was knowledgeable and helpful and so was Herubeys.
