I recently bought a 2012 Honda CR-V from Herb Chambers Honda of Westboro. It was probably the most satisfying car-buying experience I've had to date, largely due to the salesperson I worked with, Rich Mer Honda of Westboro. It was probably the most satisfying car-buying experience I've had to date, largely due to the salesperson I worked with, Rich Merlino. This was not a hurried purchase; I am by nature very methodical when I research an investment of this magnitude. I made it clear to Rich right at the start that I wasn't in a hurry to purchase any vehicle; he asked the "what can I do to put you into a new Honda today" question (as did most of the other salespeople I spoke with at other dealerships), to which I answered, "nothing". After that, there was no pressure from Rich or anyone else at the dealership to make a decision. Rich was patient as I finished my research (took several months) and while my husband and I test drove lots of other vehicles to be sure we were making the best choice. He checked in periodically by email to make sure I had no questions and to let me know he was still available to help in any way, but he didn't pressure me. When we finally made our decision, Rich made it as easy as possible. I didn't even have to go in to the dealership to negotiate - we did it all over the phone, a major convenience since it was Memorial Day weekend and I had 2 small children that I would have had to drag through the process if we'd gone into the dealership. And really, as car negotiations go, this was painless - I had price comparisons from other dealerships in hand when I called; I told Rich I was ready to go, and he said he'd get me the best price he could - when that price wasn't quite as low as some other dealerships, he worked with his management to get them to come down in price to the point I was comfortable going ahead with. Not quite the lowest price I had in hand, but to me the convenient location of Herb Chambers Honda of Westborough, their 7-day per week service schedule, loaner cars and convenience shuttle were worth the small amount of extra money. Over the course of the 6-month process, Rich was patient and thorough, professional and personable. He had ready answers to most of my many questions, and got back to me quickly with answers to those he didn't know off the top of his head. It is largely because of the trust that I developed in him as a representative of the dealership that I wound up purchasing there - it wasn't my intent when I started the process, as we have previously worked with another Honda dealership for my husband's car purchase and subsequent service, but Rich truly did earn my business. I'm glad to have worked with him and we'll certainly head back to see him again when it's time to purchase our next Honda. As for the CR-V - I love it. It's a great car, and I'm very pleased with my purchase at Herb Chambers Honda of Westborough. More
