IF YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT YOU ARE DOING, BRING SOMEONE WHO DOES. I wish I didn't have to write a negative review for this dealership, but it is necessary. Because all of those things that you hear about when going to a dealership, all of those horror stories, all came true during my visit back on November 10th, 2018 when I purchased my 2018 Honda Civic Type-R. I didn't realize it at the time because I walked away thinking I got a great deal. I told them I wanted to be under $700/month and only had $4,000 to put down. My credit score was a 740 and I had a good income. I wasn't sure if they could do it but after some monthly payment negotiations we finally got the number down to where I felt comfortable. The sticker price on the car was somewhere around $36,500. I was so pumped. I loved the car, the payment wasn't too high and my rate was awesome at 3.99%. All of this sounds great, right? That is until I started selling cars myself and I went back through my paperwork to see where the numbers came from. Here is where the story begins. While I was at the dealership I was told that the vehicle came with a 10 year/ 100,000 mile warranty. I was told that it came with Tire & Wheel Protection. I was told it came with GAP protection. Are we noticing a pattern yet? I was told it comes with all of these products.. BUT THEY ARE ALL OPTIONAL PRODUCTS. I was not ONCE given the opportunity to accept or decline any of these products. They were not even explained to me. (I know what they are now but didn't then). They just threw these protections in there without explaining anything to me because they knew that I didn't know what I was doing. They took advantage of me, plain and simple. This is a dirty tactic they used to essentially steal money from me. It is also illegal and unethical to pack products on the back end of a deal to increase profit without explaining what those products are to the customer. These products are designed to help protect you and knowing what I know now I would never purchase a car without GAP coverage unless I put a massive amount of money down. They are also designed to make the dealership some "back end money". Simply put, they knew I wanted a certain monthly payment and they got me there, but it could have been much less had I known what I was doing. When I got to the paperwork portion of the deal they took me into a back room where everything is signed on this desk that has an electronic version of the paperwork for me to sign. The gentleman who I signed with did not explain anything I was signing my name on. The paper work was on a touch screen so every time I signed he would scroll down a few pages to the next signature before I would read anything. I was told, "sign here" then *scroll**scroll* "sign here" and so on. After I had been selling cars for a while and got good enough to get involved with finance team I decided to take a look at where my numbers came from on my personal vehicle. Like I mentioned earlier, all of those "optional" protection products were on there. But there was something else. Something that if I would have known from the start or had I known to look for it I would have walked. THEY MARKED THE VEHICLE UP $12,000 OVER RETAIL VALUE! That's right. They charged me 12k for absolutely nothing. They did not point it out during the sales process, they did not point it out during financing, and did not go through it with me during the signing of the paperwork. I am furious at the way I was treated and the reason why I am writing this review is to save the next person like me. Someone who knows nothing gets taken advantage of by a finance team who is going to get every penny out of their customers UNETHICALLY. If they would have given me a fair chance to accept or decline the protection products, I would be fine. If they were open about the 12.5k mark-up, I would be fine. I probably still would have bought the car because I loved it. But at the end of the day. The took advantage of someone me when I knew nothing about the games these dealerships play. Like I said earlier, if you don't know what to look for BRING SOMEONE WHO DOES! Or they will take advantage of you. Disclaimer: Jeanne was a great saleswoman. I am not sure if she had anything to do with the finance portion of the deal. I really hope she didn't because I actually enjoyed my time with her. This is not a review of her character but a review of my experience at this dealership as it pertains to buying. More
